Background: Ruby was born on October 4, 1991 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with her birthname, Tan Li Hwa. Before she was born, her mother works as a kindergarden teacher. So since she was young, she spend a lot of time in the kindergarden even she was still a baby. And the older kids and parents will play with her whenever. Even when she went into elementary school or middle school or even high school. She always spend her spare time helping her mother taking care of the kids. So because she spends a lot of time with the little ones since young, and on top of that, she LOVES children, so she can understand children and control children very well. And children loves her as well. Because she'd always have a smile on her face and she plays with the children. So they really like her.
Eventhough she loves children. But singing was her real passion. She was singing at a young age and was found out to be very talented in singing. So since young, she entered singing competitions and eventhough she doesn't win every competition, but she has a lot of experiences. Since young, her ambition was to be a singer that everyone can look up to.
After she graduated highschool, she told her parents that she wanted to study music in Korea. So, at the age of 18, she was transferred to Korea due to the help of a transfer event. How they met:
It was before Minhyuk debut, and Li hwa had just became a trainee for not long. Li hwa had only been in Korea for a year, eventhough her Korean was quite good, but it wasn't the best, she is still learning so she can't understand most of it. It was a Sunday, a day which mostly trainees take a day off and spend their free time to rest or etc. After Li hwa had became a trainee, she had to move into a dorm with other trainees, and in the dorm, they have given chores to a specific to take care. But, grocery shopping is done by different people every month. Each month, the girls had to buy groceries in a team of two and that Sunday, it was Li hwa's and another trainee's turn to buy.
They were in the super market buying everything that they needed and the other trainees needed. Li hwa was pushing the trolley while the other went to grab things on the lists. Li hwa was pushing and pushing while she saw a sign for milk for half price for a box. She quickly pushed the trolley there while the other didn't notice and she quickly put three boxes of milk in the trolley. While she's doing it, Minhyuk was standing right behind her and had happened to saw her happily putting it in the trolley. He smiled at her cuteness and watched her pushing the trolley away.
Later when the girls were paying, Li hwa noticed that she didn't have enough money, but it already went in the bill so she can't take it out. Then Minhyuk came in and paid the rest for her. She thanked Minhyuk and wanted to quickly go away without him noticing, but she stopped, because the groceries were too many for two people to carry so she ended up calling Minhyuk for help.
Minhyuk was really nice to her, he even treated the girls to Patbinsu before they went back to their dorm. The girls chat with Minhyuk and another guy that happens to be with Minhyuk when they were shopping. After they finished and went back to the dorm, Minhyuk had asked for Li Hwa's number because he wanted to make sure that Li hwa will pay back the money.
