An observation on foreword and chapter views

I originally thought that the number of views in the foreword is the total number of views. But when I checked the stats this morning, I noticed that the number of views in the first and only chapter of my new collection/series is more than the value reflected in the foreword.

Views in the Foreword: 81

Total chapter views: 126

Poptart always commented how Claimed and Coveted Writer's Cut has 0 views but I didn't mind because that fic in invite-only. And I don't really check the number of views because it means people just clicked it, not read it. I only checked now because a tumblr user reblogged the link of Peppermint Days (direct link of the first chapter). It has eight notes, seven likes and one reblog, so seven individuals read it plus a few here in AFF (it is not a kpop/asian fanfic). I got curious on how many bothered with my story and clicked statistics.

I just realized that the foreword views = number of times foreword is viewed and is independent of chapter views.

Or am I wrong?

I would see a certain view of a certain story, then the next day I'd happen to notice that the view was lessened. This all started when AFF shutdown a few years back and I lost 500+ hundred of views in just one story alone and then lost by hundreds of views on the other stories, too. But the stories were intact so I was still grateful.
Now, I'd lose 30+ views on a story and 10+ and single digit on some of the stories on a regular basis.
I am only guessing, every time Jason or the AFFHelpers are doing something with the site, the number of views are lessened.
As long as my stories are intact, I am ok with it.

I don't think your own views count unless you're logged out. but that still doesn't explain it?
