Blackjacks worldwide help set up “2NE1 Forest” with 1,210 mango trees planted in South Sudan!

In a beautiful village in South Sudan sits a forest of 1,210 mango trees. Beyond providing sweet, nourishing food for the villagers, the cool shade of the mango trees gather all the the children of this small town, called Tonj, to study under them. This is the 2NE1 forest: a result of the combined efforts of Blackjacks from all around the world to donate to a cause in honor of 2NE1′s ‘New Evolution‘ Seoul concert.

This is the result of our love for CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy.

Tree Planet Korea has created this 2NE1 forest with Blackjacks for their ‘Star Forest’ program. 2NE1′s forest is the first of it’s kind! Tree Planet recently posted photos of villagers from Tonj, South Sudan enjoying mangoes from trees sent to them by Blackjack fansites on their Star Forest page. Tonj, though a small but growing town in South Sudan’s vast interior, is situated between the two larger urban centers of Rumbek and Wau. The town is a significant transit point for road travelers, with a population of less than 18,000.

For those that do not remember, originally YGLadies and the other 2NE1 fansites had planned to donate rice wreaths for 2NE1′s ‘New Evolution’ Seoul concert.  But under YGE’s suggestion to donate mango trees instead, we decided to go ahead and participate in this project with Star Forest, as it was a fresh and exciting idea to us at the time as well.

We’re extremely glad to see this project come to fruition and have no words for just how proud we are of the Blackjack fandom for our success in this project ♥.
