If you read Looking for a Lighthouse, please read this
Hello~~!!
This is Kim (topsyhobby), the author of Looking for a Lighthouse.
I just popped in to clear some things up for readers of this fic and say sorry for the confusion.
It seems that I didn't make it clear enough in my writing, so a lot of people seem to be confused.
I know it's really lame for me to just tell you like this, but apparently my writing can't do that in any better way, it didn't get the right message across to you, and it's quite important that readers get it right (well, actually.....it's too late now, because readers were supposed to get it at the time of reading the past chapters for the right feels...;;;; sorry)
Sungmin broke up with Kyuhyun for KYUHYUN, not his mother or family.
Family reasons do play a part, but they are NOT the main reason.
When the surgery for Sungmin's mother failed, you might remember (hopefully) Sungmin running home to find Kyuhyun; he was desperate to see Kyuhyun at that moment.
He realized that Kyuhyun was gone for a month of business trip to Paris earlier than planned, and recalled Heechul's words that Sungmin was in Kyuhyun's way to success. (This part wasn't explicitly laid out until later when Sungmin pours out the truth in front of Eunhyuk (Chapter 27), because I didn't think it was necessary to put it in before Chapter 27, but maybe I should have put it in before....;;;; sorry again...)
Sungmin thought he indeed was blocking Kyuhyun's path to succeed, and so he hardened his mind for the month so that he could break up for Kyuhyun when Kyuhyun came back. (This part wasn't explicitly laid out either because I thought it was gonna be pretty dumb if I just said it, but again, maybe I should have;;;;)
So Sungmin basically sacrificed himself for Kyuhyun's sake. He thought he wasn't good enough for Kyuhyun because he was surrounded by too many problems including his family, the complexities within himself etc. He thought Kyuhyun deserved better. He thought he had to let go, he knew it subconsciously throughout all this time, it's just that he only admitted it outwardly in Chapter 27.
I was confident that this was made all quite clear in Chapter 27 where Sungmin reveals everything, but perhaps it was arrogance on my part because there were many readers who thought that Sungmin was breaking up with Kyuhyun for his own self, which is not true at all.
Chapter 27 was a very important scene which was almost like a turning point for Sungmin, so I had to convey the right message with the right feels, but I failed to do that, and I'm very very very sorry T________T (I felt like it didn't work out as I planned, so I considered changing the story and rewriting the whole three chapters again (Chapter 25, 26, 27, to be specific), but I guessed it was unfair for readers who've already read them...So I was getting a little frustrated at the fact that I couldn't do anything even when I thought I ruined the important scenes;;; so I might have been a bit edgy and stiff in replying to some of your questions, I'm really sorry for that too T____T)
I apologize for my clumsy and confusing writing, plus the lame excuse duh ;;;;;
This is the first time I felt like maybe I should quit what I was writing and start all over again (I just want to give you the best of best every time, that's why), so I'm having a rather hard time trying to fix this as it is. Please be generous with me, I know you all are very understanding ^^
Hopefully this clears up the confusion I caused, and just in case there are readers who don't read this, could you please correct any other readers who seem to be confused? :)
Thank you for reading this, and of course thank you always for supporting my fics as well!!!
You know I love you all~!! <333333333
