(Personal) Thoughts on Myungsoo's Scandal

It comes as no surprise when fans (and saesang fans) reacted in such an undesirably negative way after the scandal broke out in September and resurfaces once again. However, I noticed there are three distinct groups of supporters right now. One, the die-hard group of fans who supports him regardless of everything. These group of people may hold it against the idol's partner and even carry out actions to hurt or punish her in some sense. Two, the sympathetic ones who acknowledges Kim Do Yeon as the victim. This group is growing fast ever since she opened up about their relationship and the backlash she received from L's saesang fans. Three, the disheartened group of supporters who isn't able to accept the fact that their Oppa has dated (or is dating) and thus they leave the fandom. This is especially evident in the number of fansites which have already 'temporarily' shut down.

One of the reasons why fans are reacting in such a violent way is because they love their idols whole-heartedly and it has always been a practice for idols to keep their private relationship under wraps. However, these should not be reasons to justify saesang fans' actions to harm Kim Do Yeon or blame L. If you love your idols whole-heartedly, you should understand that they do have their own love life and we should respect their decisions. If they decide they want a lover, a soul mate, someone to share their burden, we have no rights to interfere. You can either choose to respect their decisions or simply hop to another fandom. But one has to understand that idols are not going to stay single forever.

Truth to be told, I was affected by the scandal. Everyone was speculating that the report was false or accusing the girl for lying and many came up with their own seemingly-true reasonings etc. But I knew something fishy was going on because many (and I mean really many) fansites were shutting down and I guessed they had insiders' info if not they wouldn't have made such decisions. But I was touched when he composed a song for his fandom and I decided that no matter what, I'll stay in his fandom. I decided not to write anything then except to advocate people to stop hurting him anything more than the damage that has already been done.

With the news resurfacing once again, I decided that I should write a post about this.  It's truly heart-breaking for fans and I'm almost certain that fans do know that their idols date (it's just that the relationship isn't exposed). Everyone becomes a victim: Fans getting emotionally hurt, Kim Do Yeon being unfairly bashed, L being frowned upon, Infinite's damaged image and the list goes on and on. But have you ever wonder who benefits the most from everything? For me, it's the media. If not for them, everything could have died down peacefully. People would hide it somewhere deep in their heart, but the media decides to bring it up. It's akin to cruelly re-opening a fresh wound that has yet to heal. The media is indeed a terrifying tool. Another point to note is that the idols often have no choice, it's always their companies who are making the final decision in opening up about everything. Whether to trust or not, it's ultimately your decision.

Some may ask "Are they still dating?" or "Does L still love her?", I'd then like to question you back "Does it matter?", "Will you ever know the truth?" as well as "Do you even know anything behind their love?". The truth is, it doesn't matter because you don't know the truth and you won't get to know anything behind their love.

Keep calm and love whom you love.

For dooyeon girl, she actually are the ones who bringing this problem.but,as a girl,i'm so hurt to read that she was bullied by L's sasaeng fans..

For L's fans..i'm so understand what the reaction appears after the truth behind.but sometime,it makes me pissed off is they tought their oppa are their, their oppa are forever single...blah blah.

For dear myungsoo,i'm not his fans, but,he is like a normal men,he will fallin in love with a girl, and makes his future live.and i think,he's the main role in this drama..the drama will be ending with his actions.

And every problem,it'll makes someone more independent, strong and wise.

I am partly angry at the girl because I don't think she even get Woollim's or L's permission to expose their relationship. She could have even made up the fans that hit her or her parents getting into the hospital or the verbal bullying she got but it might be true because of the sasaengs. She, herself is living in Korea and being able to date an idol might gave her an impression of how sasaengs are like and the consequences of dating an idol, she could have thought more rationally before she let the scandal broke out in september. that is just my personal view though, i have nothing against her. she stated that she would be taking legal actions towards her haters, im kinda hoping she sues me, so that i could go to korea for the trail and a holiday :3

Yea delusional fans I call them because they do know that their idols have private lifes, they know they will date but they cannot accept it. It is just kinda sad that the idols have too little of a say in anything that concern their private lifes. Even when L wanna come clean and admit to the scandal, the company refuse to let him. Your conclusion definitely knocked some sense into them.

Call them delusional, immature, childish, inconsiderate and everything but they never change. They never learn or grow up. I agree that everyone become the victims especially the idols themselves. It is normal for them to date but fans dont care. If they cant accept that, they really cant call themselves their fans because in the end they dont understand their idols.

Well that's life. We, fans, do love our biases as if they are, well, our "boyfriends" or for others are "husbands". They are more than merely an "idol" or "crush" for our eyes. We feel heartbroken whenever we hear news like that. It's natural for fans. But some others do "overreact" in my opinion. Our idols are humans also. They have needs too like us. Quitting the fandom and the like for news like that is just being shallow. According to what I understood, it's just the news about L's girlfriend right? I understand how much it hurts for fans and why they react that way ( I feel the same) since we do love them more than just being entertainers but causing damage to our idols is just plain wrong. It's not a scandal of something life-changing to L's image and/or to Infinite's image right? Though for some fansites shutting down like that, I also think that there may be more than just that issue...

Frankly speaking that's my thoughts exactly, I wrote a similar blog post like this too. But it's really hard to get the message across hence I created a story, that way it's easier to get the message across.
Check it out if you want too( I'm not shamelessly promoting it), my pragmatic aim is to get the message across.

i really wish people would stop being immature. like, idols have their own lives, too, and we don't have the right to control their lives. they can date whoever they want. why can't fans be happy for their idols? isn't that what fans are supposed to do? to support their idols no matter what? while the idols and people who are involved in this scandals are suffering, the media are enjoying themselves. honestly, selling an idol's life just to earn money is kind of sick, in my opinion.
