Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing fine. ^^

As what some have seen over the news for the past weeks, some parts of my country (the Philippines), have been hit by the super typhoon Haiyan (Philippine name: Yolanda).

It was said to be one of the strongest typhoons in the history of mankind, killing thousands of people, destroying billions worth of properties, and leaving a lot of people homeless, hungry, and dying.

I am beyond lucky because Manila (the capital) was not directly hit.

The magnitude of the damage was terrifying, I couldn't even stand looking at the pictures for a long time, let alone watch the videos of how the storm surges engulfed everything on its way.

It was a very devastating sight, but we cannot blame anyone because it's an act of God (force majeure in legal terms). During the first few days after the typhoon hit my country, I couldn't help but tear up while watching the news. Every scene flashed on the television is totally heartbreaking.

I consider this catastrophic event as a wake-up call---we have been pressed with a lot of issues on climate change for years, and I firmly believe that we should do something about it.

In the light of everything that happened, I am saluting all the survivors who managed to stay strong despite being left empty-handed after the typhoon. They held on to their faith that this havoc will end soon, and that light will shine upon them in the future.

The amount of foreign aid that our country has been receiving is so overwhelming. Countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Canada, Australia, Japan, Israel, South Korea have donated money and manpower to help rebuild the typhoon-hit areas. I also saw on twitter that some of EXO's fansites like Polar Light, OhSehunNet, and Captain Wu Fan donated as well. I couldn't be thankful enough to these people for the help they accorded to my countrymen. We will forever be grateful to you and your kindness. I am sure EXO is also proud of you guys.

In behalf of the Filipino people, thank you so much to everyone who helped----be it financially, morally, or spiritually. We are beyond grateful to the international community.

xoxo

I was really scared when I heard about the typhoon since I have a lot of friends and teachers who are living in the Philippines. It must be really shocking and devastating to you too. I just hope that the lives of the people which were taken will rest in peace.
