background information:
A timid and quiet child who couldn't even look his elementary school teachers in the eye, Lesley grew up in a noodle restaurant in Koreatown owned by his parents. After losing his father to cancer when he was four years old, Lesley grew into the role of 'caretaker' in his family, while his overaffectionate mother worked nonstop at the restaurant and Lesley took care of his twin sisters (four years younger than him). Though he was often teased at school for his girly name and shy personality, Lesley developed a love for singing and had a natural talent for it. His mother, hoping it would aid his shyness, encouraged his hobby by singing him up for choir and theater. When visiting his grandparents in Seoul, he was scouted by SM entertainment at the age of thirteen because of his appearance. Lesley rejected the offer, not wanting his talent to be based off only his looks. Two years and several song covers on Youtube later, Lesley auditioned for JSquared Entertainment.

Being someone who had to practically raise two kids even when he was a kid himself, Lesley seems very mature. He tends to give great advice and listens well. Many people remark his mindset is that of someone much older than he really is. Down to earth and responsible, Lesley knows where his priorities lay and treasures the few friends he has. He is someone who always judges personality and intelligence before looks. An intellectual, Lesley is very analytical, he is quick to figure things out and is deemed pretty damn smart because of his quick observations (and his amazing speed at mental math).
So despite seemingly being someone who would become a CEO, Lesley is above all an idol (or at least, an idol-in-training). When it comes to singing, Lesley is extremely hardworking and determined. He's the type of guy who is willing to practice long into the early hours of morning, or completely sacrifice his social life to pursue an uncertain career (which he did). Another thing that hinders his social life however, is Lesley's sensible nature. He follows everything by the rules, which makes him a bit boring. Somewhat of a naggy person, Lesley always makes sure his friends have brought their jackets with them when it's cold, have enough money for the bus, and are getting decent grades (and if not, he forces them to let him tutor them).
Onstage when performing, Lesley appears very serious and focused. He puts his all in his singing and as a result, sometimes ends up looking a little scary or intimidating. Because of his more lowkey nature, Lesley would gladly allow his hyungs and dongsaengs to take the spotlight in before him, though because of this, he sometimes seems a bit elusive and is not noticed as much. Offstage and on variety or talk shows, Lesley is revealed to be someone extremely gentle and chivalrous. He is selfless and a pushover (though he denies it) and despite seeming like a mature hyung or dongsaeng, Lesley is more like a packmule who ends up cooking, cleaning, tutoring, and giving advice to all his friends. On variety shows, he is often taken advantage of or teased because of how he rarely gets angry and can never refuse a request. (But in a good way)
