Between fantasy and reality

I never really found a better place to express my feelings toward the whole fanfiction world, and since AFF is offering blog option, I think it's the best place possible.

I find fanfictions highly entertaining and they became my little obsession ever since I stumbled onto them. But during the time I spent on reading stories and opinions on shipping, OTPs and so on, I came to the conclusion that we are not all the same.

Just to be clear, I draw very thick and very clear line between fantasies and reality.

I started reading eunhae fanfictions pretty soon in my phase of getting to know them, and the stories somehow became integral part of my whole fangirling. But unlike most of the authors, I am NOT really a shipper.

I just don't really think it's fair to assume they are really together (and I'm referring here to all of others unconfirmed pairings). I don't see them as a couple in real life. End of the story.

It's the whole different story if I support it or not. It's their private business who they are dating or what their preferences are. It's just doesn't speak to me. When I watch the real people (in this case Donghae and Hyukjae) it doesn't look like there are any indications that they are in love in a romantic way.

And I must say, I have really big internal conflicts when it comes to reading and writing gay stories about them. If one of them would say anything about it making them uncomfortable, I would stop writing (and probably reading) immediately. I just still somehow find it weird that they are in fact real people, with real emotions, and real opinions and we are all using them, making them dating and being in love (and doing all the much much weirder things hehehe).

I don't know if I would feel bad if someone was writing about me dating my best friend. Probably not. I would probably support it and read it even, just to encourage people to make better stories. But I'm not a guy, I'm not a Korean idol and I'm deffinitley none of those real people.

I try to find a way to being respectful in my little fun. I don't have anything agaist 'shipping' in general. I just would love to see people being more considerate in their ways of fangirling and stating who should being in love with who.
