KARA in music awards: Best treated in Japan vs. poorly treated in Korea

KARA is currently attracting attention by being treated differently in music awards from Korea and Japan.

It seems like they are best treated in Japan but poorly treated in Korea. Releasing their third domestic album in September, they did well on the sales. However, they haven’t received a single award from music awards in Korea, yet. KARA’s fans are feeling sad about this.

However, it’s the opposite in Japan. Being acknowledged for the outcome they achieved and their popularity of this year, KARA put their name on the lists of the best music awards in Japan as a winner or a guest. They are better treated than any other Korean girl groups.

KARA members are making a guest appearance with TBSK in the 62th NHK’s Red and White Song Battle, which will be broadcast live on December 31. It took only a year and a half for them to appear on the Japan’s best legendary variety show.

KARA is also nominated for the 53rd Japan Records Awards, one of the most renowned music awards arranged by the Japan Composer’s Association, for the grand prize. A spokesperson of the Japan Records Awards has recently announced the ten Best Artists who will automatically be nominated for the grand prize. KARA won the Best Artist for “Go Go Summer!” TBSK won the Best Artist for “Keep Your Head Down,” and 2NE1 won the Rookie of the Year and was automatically nominated for the Best New Artist. The grand prize and the Best New Artist of the 53rd Japan Records Awards will be announced on December 30 on TBS live.

This is not the only one. On December 7, KARA are appearing on Fuji TV’s special live music program FNS Song Festival with Boa, SNSD, and Japanese top stars such as Arashi, w-inds., AKB48, EXILE, KinKi Kids, SMAP, V6, TOKIO, and SPEED.

On November 24, KARA already guested on TV Nihon’s music festival Best Hit Music Festival with 2NE1.

KARA achieved eye-opening results with total three single albums and one regular album in Japan.

Released in April, their third Japanese single “Jet Coaster Love” topped the Oricon Daily Single chart on the day of its release and sold over 100,000 copies in a week. Their fourth Japanese single “Go Go Summer,” released in June, also sold over 100,000 copies in a week. And their fifth single “Winter Magic,” released in October, topped the chart of the most downloaded songs in Recochoku, one of the biggest online music websites in Japan, right after its release.

Their second regular album Super Girl, released on November 23, sold over 275,000 copies on the week of its release and topped the Oricon weekly album chart. Oricon reported, “The sales volume of KARA’s new album on its first week is the best among all foreign girl groups.”

As they achieved excellent results in Japan in this year, KARA is currently receiving special treatment in music awards in Japan, as befitted their achievement.

KARA achieved a lot in Korea in this year as well even though they only stayed in Korea for a short period.

KARA released their third domestic album “Step” in September and topped Gaon chart on the month of its release and sold over 97,667 copies in September. By the month, KARA’s album was the best selling among new albums of other girls groups in Korea.

KARA’s third album title song “Step” also topped the Gaon chart of the most downloaded songs in September as it recorded about 1,719,950 downloads.

They stayed in Korea only for three weeks, but the achievement they made from the third album is outstanding.

However, KARA has not received any award from the 2011 Melon Music Awards and the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards. KARA’s fans are wondering why.

People are now paying attention to what results KARA will bring from the rest of the music awards in Korea that will take place at the end of this year.

I don't think SNSD deserved Best Girl Group. >_> Me no likey.
& Also, it's because Kara's music is almost like Jpop. That's what I think.
But, one day our girls will win a big award♥

And wtf dude, they didn't even win any ing awards in MAMA! >.> Haters! Such Big 3s biased! Kara deserves more from their home country! This is all >.> I think they deserved the Best Female Group cause who went through serious hard times and still stayed together and smiled for their fans and the world? KARA did! NOT SNSD! Call me biased but it's so ing true. SNSD don't deserve the Best Girl Group. It's so stupid how fans are like this.
