li ja is very cold towards new people she meets. she usually just keeps quiet and gives a small smile before focusing her attention on something else. this is why she has very few friends. due to her unsocial personality, most people think she's rude. her friends are the ones that actually take time to get to know her, slowly breaking her barrier and earning her trust.

on the brighter side, li ja is very funny and cheerful with her friends. she laughs a lot and whines a lot, earning her nickname, princess. she orders people around and is very happy when people give her gifts, like of a princess. she gets dorky at times but usually she's hiding behind her members' back being embarassed of her members.

born and raised in america, li ja studied in international schools since she was 5 when she returned to korea. sometimes, her pronunciation of korean words sound like english words as she is very fluent in english. she was never bullied in school, just very lonely.

li ja is the only child, therefore her parents love her alot. however, her parents never pampered her. they taught her well. having no siblings also made her have an unsocial personality (as stated above). as she was lonely, she would sometimes dance in front of the tv to boa or any other artist she thought was cool. she eventually started liking dancing and singing so her parents sent her to various dance classes during the weekend.

li ja got accepted into sm from a talent show her school held. she attends korea kent international school where a few sm artists attend (krystal, jessica & tiffany). during this talent show, the school invited a few representatives from various companies to judge their contestants. li ja performed boa's no.1 (video here performed by krystal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BppwV87GRQ0 ) and managed to get 2nd runner up. though she wasn't the champion, the sm representative thought she had potential and talked to her about it after the show.

li ja's parents didn't really support her int he beginning cos they were afraid about her future since she could do so much better in her studies. but eventually they accepted it because li ja showed great interest in it.
