                   • background ; Baek Joo Yeon was born in Incheon, South Korea. Her mother had hired a surrogate to give birth to Baek Joo Yeon because her mother couldn't. Although, Her mother wasn't her birth mother, she was still her mother. Jooyeon was an only child, so she was really lonely. She would visit her grandfather's home in busan alot in the summer. Once her grandfather was diagnosed with liver cancer, Jooyeon was missing half of her life. She wasn't able to study well in school, have the joy in her childhood and learn much as the other kids in her class. After her grandfather died, she went through a breakdown for a long period of time, but she decided to gain happiness by pursuing her dream; becoming an idol. She met Jung Jessica, her idol, while an audition for SM, but she failed. She was a trainee at Sweet Entertainment after that and became a trainee for about 4 years.
