Ren was born in the Chon'sin in the Vlam Continent. He is the descendant of a well known Swordmaster in the country. He has been trained with the way of the sword since he could remember anything thus he become a very proficient sword wielder at a very young age. when he reached the age of 18 he was given a sword from his father... a family heirloom only granted to the most skilled sword wielder of the family. The sword itself known as Chaltier... and no one knows if the sword is actually cursed or not because once a person accept the sword they are binded. The sword won't be able to show its true strength if the sword is held by another person instead of the true owner. Chaltier only recognize the Valdreen family as its true owner.
Ren was raised with high sense of pride and competitiveness by his father. According to his father a high sense of pride and competitiveness will help to motivates him to actually become a gread swordmaster one day. Because he will always looking for a way to become stronger to climb over an obstacle that he face. And true to his father's words by the age of 20 years old he has become a well known Myrmidon in his country by defeating a lot of opponents. Its definitely not without hardships as there are a lot of Swordmasters and Myrmidons who posses an incredible skills... But due to his pride and competitiveness he never gave up. If he was defeated then he will try to understand his opponent's skill and then find a way to overcome them... and he succeeded. Up until now the only person that he still unable to overcome is his own father... every time Ren's come up with a strategy to defeat him, his father will always has something up in his sleeves to actually foil Ren's move. Thus it has become his objective to defeat his respected father... He is planning to challenge every single strong fighter in order to expand his experience.
Since he was 10 he has heard about Shepherds... about how Chivalrous are they, and about how do they have maintain peace all over the years. But the most important is he has heard about how strong are they... He was ticked to actually find out how much differences there are in their skills. Is his skills still lacking or not when it comes to having a fair match with a strong shepherd. And he has finally made his decision... he told his father that he will go to the Continent of Ylisse in order to expand his experience as he strive to gain acknowledgement as a strong Sword Wielder. At the age of 22, after saying his goodbye to his family he sets on a journey to Ylisse as planned.
During his journey he has to come to one single realization... that there are still a lot of people who is stronger than he is right know in this world. Even though he couldn't draw any conclusion whether his father is the strongest one or not as His father seems to still have more up in his sleeve than what he have showed Ren before. On his way to Ylisse he is often being held on as he was defeated by another person... He will actually challenge the person over and over until he overcome them. There are occurence where he actually couldn't defeat his opponent with any battle strategy that he come up with... when such event occured he will leave them but with a message that he will be back after earning some more experiences from his journey. But not everyone is willingly to have a match with him... some because of their principles... some because they still have an important business that they couldn't leave behind and some just because simply didn't want to and some because they dislike Ren because of his seemingly arrogant attitude. But amongst those people there are peoples who actually offer an advice or showing Ren a trick or two and some even promise to actually battle him one day before they continue with their own journey or business.
Ren called himself Freelance Mercenary... as he didn't have any organization or whatsoever. He acts alone or sometimes acompanied by another person who gave a request to him. He will do some mercenary jobs such as exterminating monster... looking for missing persons... or guarding a precious cargo. But never he accept a request that requires him to actually kill another person... he will refuse the job no matter how high is the pay. Because in Ren's mind he has no right or whatsoever to take someone's life... this trait of his came from his mother.
During his journey Ren came has taken a Job Request of guarding a Dark Mage and her companion, a figther, safely from the Crimea to Gallia. The purpose was never mentioned to Ren... even with much curiousity and uncertainty because of the unknown variables that might rise he accepted the Job as Ren was somehow intrigue by this Dark Mage. The Dark Mage goes by the name of Eliza Einhart... a female Dark Mage that is quite talkative as she always strike some conversation along the way which of course Eliza is the one who was talking most of the times.
Ren was intrigued for the first time once she set his eyes on her... Ren somehow sense that this girl id definitely not as weak as she looks. And his sense is proven to be accurate. At one point they were ambushed by a gang of Bandits, outnumbering them 3 to 10. With his current skill Ren supposed to be able to take them on and win for sure, but this time its different... within the group of bandits were supported 2 Dark Mages and a Cleric. Each time Ren manages to wound one of the Bandits their Cleric heals them and everytime he tries to attack the Cleric either the melee ones or the black mages thwart his attacks. But then suddenly out of nowhere a rain of fire starts to pour from the sky hitting the ground around the bandits thus providing enough distraction for Ren to go in and defeat their Dark Mage and Cleric swiftly. And soon after that a binding spell was casted upon the figthers of the bandits thus immobilized them long enough for Ren and Eliza's companion to take on them.
Not long after they've reach Gallia, Ren rejected the money that supposed to be his and instead challenged Eliza into a fair duel. It turn out that Eliza has the same desire to have a duel with Ren ever since she saw him fighting the group of bandits that attacked them. She is intrigued on how Ren was able to actually dodge the binding spells and attack spells that was casted on him by the bandits group's Dark Mages. Their are proved to be equally matched as there was no one came up with victory... as how Ren somehow managed to avoid and minimize the damage that he took Eliza was somehow managed to keep Ren at bay, preventing him to get closer. But due to large number, area and continious attack covered by Eliza's spells, Ren suffered defeat as Eliza managed to distract Ren and making him slip.
Due to his personality is then proposed another challenge to Eliza. Eliza's companion, Raz Felgarr, was rejecting Ren's duel request in Eliza's stead. But Eliza turned out to have another plan... she accepted Ren's challenge. She said she will be accepting his challenge for as long as she is in Gallia doing her job thus for almost 2 months long they keep on having a duel and somehow Eliza always ended up as the winner due to her spells and tactics that she deployed. And asides from dueling with each other they're also agreed in giving advice and suggestion to each other in aspects of battling after each duel. Overtime Ren feels comfortable around Eliza as they not just discussing about their duels but also shared some stories around each person's adventures and always keep each other company.
Finally Eliza's business in Gallia was finished and its time for them to be on their own way. Feeling disappointed as Ren never actually won against Eliza, he then proposed that when they meet again they will duel once more. But somehow in Ren's heart the disappointment of being separated from the energetic and beautiful Dark Mage is bigger than being lost in a duel. And soon after they said their goodbyes, they resume their own journey.
At the age of 23, he finally sets foot on Ylisse... yes, his journey from his hometown to Ylisse has taken a full year due to his decision to gain some experiences during the journey. When he sets foot on Ylisse he wonder what kind of warrior will he meet here and how strong are they? Will he finally meet with someone from the Shepherds? Will he be able to actually win over someone from the Shepherds? His spirits is high and he is excited... that he has finally arrived at Ylisse.

Garr Valdreen | 50 | Garr is Ren's father in which has become his goal over time, a respected Swordmaster to Ren's standard. He wants to be able to defeat his old man in order to prove himself that he is worth it to hold the family name of Valdreen.| Garr is one helluva cheerful and high spirited person in which is quite contrast to the personality that Ren has. Garr always to play some prank towards Ren because of Ren's introvert personality... Garr find that teasing his son is fun due to how Ren is reacting to his teasing.

Personality:
Ren is a calm but decisive person... In any battle situation he is able to take any necessary course action within a few seconds. Even when he is in a pinch, he is able to actually find a way to overcome that obstacle. Due to his experience and intensive training with his father, in a fight he is able to assess whether should he make the first move or let the opponent make the move and then act accordingly. And even if the flow of the battle suddenly changed in the middle of it... he is able to flexibly adjust his fighting strategy accordingly.
But due to his introvert personality, he never is a person who starts the conversation nor shows any kind of affection. With his family its another different story though since they've been with him throughout his life until now. He is warm to his family but somehow cold, somewhat indefferent and distant towards strangers... and because of this he never really made any friends and might have tick a few people off. But those who made it to his extremely short list of friend will know that the only thing cold about Ren is his expression only. It is not that he is arrogant or dislike the stranger... but simple because he doesn't know how to actually strike a friendly conversation. This is the point where people exactly thinks that he is arrogant... When he is chatting or just hanging out with his short list of friends, Ren will even put out his brightest smile and even do some jokes. But definitely not the loud type for sure.
And just like how is raised by his parents, he has a high sense of Pride and Competitiveness towards anything. He is confident in whatever he is doing and will not yield to anyone without any justification. If anyone able to convince Ren that he is wrong with a foolproof evidence he is more than willing to change his way. But usually for strangers... they just consider Ren to be one arrogant brat and won't waste their time to do any explanation at all.
Therefore with his indifferent, cold attitude combined with his sense of pride and competitiveness most of people, especially the Authorities or the Officials felt offended with the way Ren acted. But then again some of them agreed that this pride and competitive attitude will help him grows IF... JUST IF Ren would act a little more friendly.
