Appearance: YiKi has long black hair that curls slightly at the end. She present herself in a way far from how a gisaeng should, not a tomboy, but just.. far from being graceful. The only time when she's graceful is when she has a sword in her hand, or a broom. One special thing about her is that her right eye is blue while her left eye is green in color, a gene mutation which is almost unseen in that era.
Extras: She always carries a small dragon carved dagger with her, the only thing she had with her after losing all her memory.

Background: She was found at the age of 5, by a poor fisherman when she almost drowned in the river. When she regain consious, she has no memory whatsoever of who is she and where she comes from. The only thing she had with her is a dragon carved dagger. The poor fisherman sold her to a Gisaeng house for the money, since he had no obligations to keep her anyway.
When she first arrived at the Gisaeng house, the head Giseang was shocked to see that her eyes are of different color, all the servants and gisaengs told her not to accept her into the gisaeng house, thinking that she could be come demon in disguise. However, being a farsighted woman, she knew that she could be her prized possesion if tamed well, and accepted her in.
She was silent most of the time, only opening when she felt the need to.
Still, YiKi was far from what the head gisaeng expected her to be, she was a truly difficult kid. She's either very dumb, or a pure genius. At times she listens well and follow through the lessons, but at times, she just disappear without a trace. The strange thing is that, even when she's not found, she always return to the gisaeng house. In the begining, they will punish her by wrapping her in straw mats and hitting her, but she never once shed a tear or show any form of expression when that happens. The next few days she will once again disappear, and reappear. So they proceed to starving her and humilating her by stripping her, tying her outside the gisaeng house (gu family book inspired here,hahaha). Still, she showed no expression, no remorse, no shame, even after she fainted from starvation. After many tries to get her tamed, but to no avail, they gave up, knowing that she'll still come back after. However, a gisaeng house is not without discipline, everytime she returns they'll tie her up hanging on a tree for two days straight in the compound of the gisaeng house, to show the other gisaengs not to follow her footstep. Still she continues...
...for the fact that she only get to learn kenjutsu from this old man up the hill. Not only that, but also because of the boy. Wu Yi Fan.
She wasn't sure how she stumbled upon the cave to find the both of them, but she just did. At first the boy tried to chase her away, but was stopped by the smiling old man. She only sat and watch on her first few trips there, but starts to pick up a nearby stick and followed the routine the next few times she went. The two are the only people whom she actually talked to, and actually form a relationship with. She felt like she belonged with them, she felt safe, and loved..
Years went past, and her punishment stopped when she was 7, as they all felt that it was meaningless. When she was 10, without her knowing, the head gisaeng sent men to follow her when she ran away from the gisaeng house again. She thought it'll be just another night where she gets to spend time and trained with the old man and his grandson, until 20 men came in to ambushed them.
Startled by the sudden assult, the trio tried their best to fight them away. But what are the odds that a 80 year old man and the two children have against 20 well built men? For the first time in her life, Yiki cried when she saw how the old man sacrificed himself in order to save Yifan and aid his escape. She saw how the toughest boy she met in her life screamed and shed tears when his grandfather let out his last breath. She felt that it was her fault, it was her that caused the old man's death. She felt that she was the murderer, and that Yifan will never forgive her.
But she was wrong.
When she was brought back to the gisaeng house, she refused to eat or drink and just sat in her room staring into space. This goes on until one day, she heard a tap on her room's window and found the 13 year old Yifan standing there, with tired looking eyes. Telling her that it's not her fault, and the two of them sworn to protect each other, and seek revenge one day. To whom do they seek revenge from? They don't really know, all they know is that, if they are no ally, blood should be shed.
She started eating again, and taking up her lesson properly, she still disappears from time to time, but this time she tried to be discrete. She pretends to be slighty mentally impaired, laughing alot and being all playful and crazy. To a point that, when she's of age, the Yangban wouldn't even want to sleep with her, as she'll act truly crazy and it scares them off, especially with her two colored eyes. She was still fun enough to entertain the guest by dancing and pretending to be dumb when they ask her questions, and of course, since she's an exotic beauty. She was waiting for the day, the day the rebellion starts, where she can finally stab her dagger into the throats of these arrogant yangbans.
She was able to keep her chasity this way, until she met him, Kim Him Chan, the witty son of the Great Minstry of Personnel.
Personality: Romantic/Affectionate; Smart/Witty; Loyal/Faithful; Possesive; High endurance
Romantic/Affectionate- Despite how she behaves in the crowd, she's a little girl at heart who yearns for love. Not just from anyone, but Wu Yi fan. She pretends to be crazy, to be emotionless when facing abuse, but all the time her heart's crying. Days when she disappears from the gisaeng house, she'll escape to her favourite rendevous, the mustard tree in the middle of the forest, where she'll meet the love of her life. Sometimes they train together, sometimes they sit around and talked about who Yi fan killed recently and how much he got from doing all those, or how some customers reacted when she did something too insane where she herself did not see it coming. Sometimes they just cuddle and stare at the night sky. She will do anything for love, for him, even if it costed her life. Things change when Himchan appeared to mess up her life, if it's not already messed up to begin with. The only person she sings for is Wu Yi fan, since he loves her voice, and at times she'll dance for him too. Whatever he wants she'll do it all for him, this just made her love him more as he had never really ask for anything from her, except her love and understanding, which she has already given him in full.
Smart/Witty- She's able to tricked everyone into thinking that she's slightly crazy, not the kind where people will hate on you, but a kind of adorable crazy. She knows her way around to escape situations which were unfavorable to her. She just sits around and pretend to stare into space when the yangbans are talking, but in fact she remembers every single detail which they talked about. She's actually a genius, one with photographic memory, except for the fact that she remembers nothing before she was 5. Why was she drowning and where is she from. Her life started when she was 5, she couldn't care less of what happened before that, or at least she don't know where to start to figure it out. There are not many people who can outsmart her, not even Yifan. So she was really frustrated when Himchan was able to see through her plans, and wrap her around his little finger.
Loyal/Faithful- Once she loves you, she'll never betray you. She couldn't care less about the life and death of her fellow gisaengs since she doesn't really have friends to begin with, except, perhaps for some(the other ocs if necessary). She would put her life on the line to protect those whom she love, and is willing to be punished for their sake. In her life she only see one person as human, and only for that human will she laugh or cry. The reason why she gave up her chasity without emotions (on the outside) was to protect Yifan, to make sure that she's not too suspicious to give him away. As much as she was screaming for Yifan to save her on the inside, she knew she can take as much shame, as much abuse, as much injustice on her, as long as Yifan is safe and sound. As time goes by, there are incidents when she question her feeling towards Himchan, why she felt certain ways with someone who is not Yifan, but she knows that it'll always be a fact that Yifan is the reason of her very existence.
Possesive- Far from how she portrays herself, those that she loves belong to her, and she will not let anyone else have them. For the time being it was only one person she's possesive about, but when Himchan gets too invloved into her life, she found herself acting in a way she never knew she would. If she happens to see how certain ladies are getting too close to Yifan for her liking, she'll gently tell Yifan that she didn't like them, and request for him to slaughter them. He usually just does as she says without hesistation, but there are times when he tells her it can't be done if having them around was part of their plan. She likes how Yifan kills without second thoughts, that's when she felt like he belongs to her. Still, she's level-headed enough to understand when he thinks it can't be done. Things start to gets weird when she found the urge to request for Yifan to kill off the ladies who are close with Himchan too. She didn't of course, she wouldn't want Yifan to go through unnecessary trouble, so she'll write down the list of girls in her dairy, and promise to kill them off not-so-gently during the rebellion.
High Endurance/Willpower- Physical pain is nothing to her small frame. Perhaps she's got the blood of a ninja, she could easily escape the gisaeng house without anyone's notice, but she felt that she have to stay to complete the mission set by Yifan and herself. She's able to endure all sort of abuse from the tender age of 5, remembering the faces of anyone who treated her unfairly. She remembers them all, and swear to let them die in a way they hope they never lived. She's very strong in willpower, when she wants something to be done, it will be done, one way or another. She understands that for some things patience is required, so she wouldn't rush things just to complete her work faster. She'll ensure that everything will go perfectly as planned.The only time she'll panic and lose composure is when Yifan is on the line. She knows that if she loses Yifan, she loses everything. Still, it is not untrue that when she thinks of Yifan dying, another face tends to surface and it scares her. She felt guilty when that happens, she didn't want to have anything to do with Himchan. Or did she?

Background: Wu Yi Fan is a Chinese descend. His grandfather and himself are slaves escapees from China into Korea. They lived in a cave up the mountains where they hunt for food. Yi fan's grandfather learnt how to speak in korean way before he was born. His parents died of abused by their master which was the very reason why his grandfather ran away with him to Korea. A martial artist himself, he trained Yifan to protect himself whenever he faced with obstacles. After the day his grandfather was murdered by the men from the gisaeng house, he knew that he have to take revenge, but he was 13. He knew he was too young to seek any form of revenge, so he waited in patience, always practising and mastering his skills with all sorts of weapons. He knew that the men came because of Yi Ki, he wanted to blame her, but he knew he can't, and he knew it's ultimately not her fault. So when he sneaked into the gisaeng house to meet her, they sworn to be stronger, to protect each other, to take revenge and kill off whoever that are not on their side. He then manage to get adopted by a merchant family as the lady of the house found favour with his charming looks. When of age, he manage to work in the Police Bureau by day, and an assasin by night.
Personality: Heartless; Gentle; Charming; Manipulative; Giving/non-materialistic
Heartless- He kills without a blink of an eye, like a vampire that doesn't drink the blood of his victims. Having known the person beforehand or not, he doesn't really care who dies and who cries, he just do what he had as requested when people pay him to. Actually no, he does feel joy when he kills off a person, usually a yangban, especially when the thoughts of how his grandfather have to die innocently in naught. The only person he'll never hurt, and hurt anyone who hurts her, will be Yi Ki. When he kills, he'll often take something that belongs to the victim, and give it to Yiki as a gift, and prove of his sucess. He likes it when she request for him to kill, she give him the reason to ends someone's miserable life, and also it showed him how mush she loves him and wants to keep him for herself. He confessed to Yi Ki that he might be slighly pyschotic with his thrist to kill, but since she didn't mind, he didn't mind too, and so they are happy.
Gentle- As much as it contradicts to his heartless personality, he was the gentlest person Yi Ki has ever known. He was also the defination of gentleman when he was in his "adopted son" persona, a sweet guy with a sweet smile. Never hurting anything, apologises to his fellow policemen during combat. He was a gentleman to Yiki, and everyone else, at least on the outside. Honestly, he was usually gentle with his killings too. To the yangbans that he hated, he didn't bother, but with the ladies Yiki instructed him to murder, he did it as gentle as possible. To make sure that it didn't hurt too much before their "atrocious accidents" happen.
Charming- He's an absolute charmer, all girls swoon over him, even the Yangbans. He acts like a proper man from a proper family in front of the crowd, smiles and greets stranger, he was even a charming man to guys. Everyone respected him for his attitude, the way he presented himself. Also the reason why Yiki is cautious with the ladies around him. He's not a flirt, not a cassanova, but he knows just when is the right time to smile, when is the right time to laugh to make people's hearts flutter unconsiously. He is also generally sociable, not outgoing, but not awkward, able to present himself with much confidence and respect. Only in front of Yiki does he shows his pabo sides, he knows that she's smarter than he is, so he never ever pretended or lie in front of her.
Manipulative- And because he was such a charming guy, he can easily manipulate people to give him information which he needs, and do stuffs he wants them to. Even his adoptive parents trust him with the house and it's property. He could easily get things done his way, people to go according to his plans. Still as time goes by, the revenge for his grandfather doesn't really bother him anymore. All he ever cared about is Yiki, her well-being, and who Yiki wants or is not suspisious enough to be killed next. He can almost get anything he wants, but he didn't really want anything, or actually he already have all that he wants. The tricky part comes when he came face to face with Kim Himchan, he can't possibly manipulate a genius, but he'll never know if he never tried.
Giving/non-materialistic- Misunderstood for being righteous, he doesn't accept bribes because he simply has no interested in it. If the person is requesting something he himself wants to achieve, he'll do it without accepting the rewards, making them like him even more, wanting to repay him in some ways. He wouldn't really care less actually, except if it involves the benefits of Yiki and the gisaeng house. This makes people curious as he has never once stepped into a gisaengs house, but nobody ever question him and his ways, knowing that he's just a giving person, thinking that perhaps he sympatized with the gisaengs or someone(they don't know who) caught his eyes. Things he gets, it was always just for one person, other than that he needs nothing. Perhaps except his weapons, the rest can be compensated with simple love.
Relationship:It all started when Yifan's grandfather passed on, the day where they sworn to protect each other, as they only have each other left in this world. When he was first adopted, it was harder for him to meet her, but soon after they met each other on a regular basis, spending time and simply enjoying each other's company. They talked about everything and anything. They will write down a list of people they should kill and a list they should not. At the roots of the tree buries their tresure box, where Yiki keeps the things Yifan gets for her when he assasinates. There wasn't really a time when they quarelled with each other, they are like two idiots that only recognised each other when they are together. Times they wonder if the two of them have really went insane, because of their crazy and inexplainable love for each other. They both know that their love is beyond how love behaves in the norm. The way they love everything about each other, the way they interwine their hands stain with blood, the way they find humor in the way someone dies. Still, they have a plan for their future, they will leave the country when the both of them have their fair share of kills during the rebellion. Yiki wanted to travel the world, Yifan wants whatever she wants. She knew that Yifan will want to kill, she has no plans of stopping him regardless of where they go, as long as they stay together. Perhaps she has what a recent term would me called, hybristophilia. However, when they meet each other in public, they will pretend that they never knew each other. He was a adopted righteous child who never stepped into a gisaeng's house, while she herself is a lowly gisaeng who is not mentally stable. They would never want to be associated with each other openly so that when things happen the other can survive. Most lovers will want to die together, but they loved each other so much that they want the other to live. Which is why when Himchan violated Yiki for the first time, she never told Yifan. She knew that Yifan would definitly kill Himchan, but she also knew that now's not the time. She still love Yifan even when Himchan came in between them, but the longer she spent time with Himchan, the more she had unexplainable feelings for him. When news that Yiki's not a anymore reached Yifan's ear not too long after, he was enraged and vow to kill the man. He himself knew that now's not the time, but he'll make sure Himchan will not die honourably, painlessly and peacefully. Yiki is torn between the two men as the rebellion gets nearer, will this crazy love of theirs sustain..or will it not..will they manage to escape to indulge in their happily ever after?
How they met: One fine night, Yi Ki stumbled across their little cave which surprised them. Yifan was afraid that she's up to no good and tried to chase her away, but was stopped by his grandfather. He tried to talked to her, but she wouldn't speak, which frustrated him. He was puzzled as to why she would just sit there and look as he trained, and how she comes on random days. Day after day, he realised he was always looking forward to see his silent little friend appear. His face lits up when she finally came back after a long break, but saw that she was much skinner than before, and scars can be seen on her legs when she sat down.
"What happen to your legs?" 8 years old Yifan asked for the first time, after the last time he tried to talk to her with no reply.
"I was punished" she replied softly, with her exotic big eyes staring back at him.
He was surprised that she actually talked, but was more worried as to why was she punished.
As if knowing his question, she continued, "I was punished for wanting to see you."
He didn't know what was love, but he didn't want to be the reason of someone else's pain, especially not this girl, so he picked up a stick and gave it to her.
"Train with me, you have to learn to protect yourself."
Grinning like she never had before, she stood up and took the stick from the boy. She had always wanted to try it herself everytime she witness how the boy swing his wooden sword with such grace and rythmn. He is beautiful, and she wants to be like him. However, having been punished just not too long ago, her legs were a little wobbly and she fell forward. As swift as a ninja, Yifan swooped over and caught her before her face hits the stony ground. For once Yifan felt like he has responsibilities, with someone soft and breathing in his arms, he wants to keep her. Hopefully forever.
Softly, he chuckled, "And if you can't protect yourself, I'll take care of you."
Kim Him Chan ♡ 20 ♡ Father's Position [minister of Personnel department]
Background: He is just like any other yangban being raised in a weathly family. He's nothing less than a pure genius, and also a standard narcissistic cassanova. Not that he didn't like to play around with the gisaengs from one gisaeng house to another, the reason why he's doing so is to pretend to be a useless son of the Kim family, in order to lower the guard of his enemies. He can get anything that he wants, may it be status, positions, girls, wealth, possesions, anything. What Himchan wants Himchan gets, because he can. So he felt his life was getting boring, since there is no challenge in life, until he came across this Gisaeng house, and met Jang Yi Ki, better known as Geum. He found out her secrets bit by bit, and got more and more interested in her life, since for the first time, he felt the thrill of mystery solving. Little did he know that one day, he might throw away whatever he have, even his family, or his life, for a girl that might not even share the same feelings with him.
Personality: Genius; Flirty; Cunning; Passionate; Possesive
Genius- He's knowledable, streetsmart, observant, everything you need to spell a genius, he has it all. He could achieve whatever he seeks to achieve, and hence are feared by other yangbans and officials. To lower their guard against him, he pretended to be useless and play around all day long, never bothering about any politics and such. Or so it may seem like that on the outside to the public. When he met the girl called Geum, he knew something was wrong from how she grins this little grin when she tilts her head away from the crowd, the way her gaze shifted ever so slightly from time to time. He saw what people couldn't see, because he's just a genius like this.
Flirty- He got the means for it, most giseangs are even happy if he sought for them. He knows the ways to get a woman, plus his chiseled face and toned body made it even more appealing. No forgetting that he's the son of the ministry of personnel, he's got everything. And so he uses his everything to get all sort of entertainment he can get to save him from boredom. His words are sweet as honey and he knows just how to steals a heart, even one as cold as Geum's. He slowly found out what she likes and what she doesn't, putting in effort to get her to fall for him.
Cunning- A genius has got to be cunning, at least most of the time. He planned beforehand certain meetings to ensure things work according to his plans, he was actually helping his father in the dark when he knew that things are getting risky. He uses all his resources to get what he needs to know, regardless of how the information is achieved. Only his family knew why he behanves publicly how he behaves, so they never question anything that he does. They knew that he's a man with a mind of his own, a man that know what he is doing.
Passionate- He's passionate in all that he do, when he's set to do something, he does it with all his heart. May it be socializing, underground politics, getting information, spying or anything at all. That involves digging out information from Geum by tenderly giving her the care and attention only Yifan gave her. When he wants to get Geum's heart, he does anything and everything for it. Which includes playing the flute for a Gisaeng instead of the other way round, since he knew that she has a thing for the sound of flutes.
Possesive- What Himchan wants Himchan gets, and it belongs to him. That includes Geum. When he slowly find himself getting attach to her, he refuses to let anyone near her. He's wealthy enough, and of status for everyone to obey to his rules, not like anyone would want to be near the crazy girl with eyes of different color. He paid the head gisaeng to let him be Geum's Gibu, even when Yiki herself did not agree to it, as he convince the head gisaeng that she's not in the right mind to decide herself. He like the feeling of trying to get something or someone wild and with attitude to be under his control. He wants Geum to be dependent on him, to actually fall for him. So when he found out that she actually already had a lover, he had his mind set on finding him and finishing him off. He doesn't like sharing what he deem as his property.
Relationship:They first met in the gisaeng house, and Yiki's exotic eyes captivated him. At first he was a little shocked with her behaviour, but little lopeholes made her suspisious and he decided to choose her for the night. She tried screaming and shouting and laughing all at once, clawing and biting Himchan when he tried to get close to her, using her usual threat against him. However, Himchan is still a man and she's just a girl. She finally hushed and froze when he whisphered into her ears, "Why are you pretending? Who you are interest me more than what you're hiding, have you got to do with the said rebellion that's going to happen soon?" She still tried to pretend to be crazy to divert his attention and change the subject, until he said, "I can be your gibu, what you need for the rebellion I can provide, why not just be a little submissive? Rather than letting things go bad before it even started, sweetheart." Of course she's smart enough to not blow her cover, but Himchan's intense gaze and the threat in his tone made her panic. What if he send men to track her down and get Yifan into trouble? She never leak out anything she knew, but she knew that Himchan's smarter than she ever will be from the background information she found out about him long ago. For once she felt that she was not in control, and pretends to space out, emotionlessly as Himchan gets what he wants with her for the night.
And so things went on, Himchan visted Geum almost on a daily basis, spending time with her in their private room. The more time they spent together, the more he found out about her, and how smart she really is. Geum knew that it is useless to keep pretending in front of him, so instead she kept shut tightly, sitting silently as Himchan does whatever he wants, may it be reading on his own, telling her random stories trying to make her laugh, or anything else. And unlike any other yangbans and gisaengs, Himchan sometimes play the flute for her, which is almost unseen and impossible at that time. The flute was the only thing that truly captivates her and made her smile a little, as much as she tries to hide it, Himchan knew. He wanted to lure her into liking him, and spilling everything she knew about the rebellion to him. However, things might not turn out as he expected when he found himself falling for her instead.

Since Himchan is not exactly a main character(but he's my ultimate bias~><~), he's not really a part of the story only until Yifan kinda cross path with him.
