Something I Read on AFFConfessions

There was this person/user that was complaining that popular authors are infatuated and that they're cold and distant and that it's hard to approach them and be friendly with them.

Well, I don't know about other persons, but I don't quite agree. Yeah, I'm not a fan of un-replied comments and all, but how could they reply to a ton of comments all at once? How could they do that and still have time to write/update? But that doesn't mean they're not friendly! I happen to know three super popular users here and they're all so nice to me and reply to my comments. I'm friends with them, but two of them are really dear to me. And when I read that on AFFConfessions, it made me sad, 'cause they're not like that.

I won't give names and all, but I hope those persons will get that I'm talking about them. One of them I happen to have in person and I can swear she's a total sweetheart and a good friend as well! She helped me out a lot and still takes her time to read my stories and leave comments on each chapter :) It's impossible that someone could consider her unapproachable or cold O.O

The other one is not a writer, but still cool as a superstar in my opinion. Nope, I'm not talking about a designer :P This person is special to me in a way even I don't understand^^' I respect his work and I really, really admire his patience and common sense. He's a cool friend and I hardly can keep myself from bugging him with my nonsense now and then. Sorry for that, buddy^^'

The third one is pretty well known around AFF for being a designer. She's incredible with that stuff, that I kind of became addicted to her work?^^' Heh. Anyway, we're not close friends or anything like that, but I really appreciate she takes her time to reply to my comments filled with spazzez :)) She's incredibly cool when she does that, in my opinion^^

Of course, I know other people that are just as popular and popular, but I somehow I picked these three users to explain that whoever wrote that on AFFConfessions is wrong. These three are super popular and super cool for solely the reason that they talk to a 'peasant' like me ^~^ Where to put that they're friendly with a whole other bunch of people that pester them, plus creating nice stories/designs!

So yeah, we shouldn't judge them too much, the popular users. They worked to get popular and it means they're special in a way or another, right? But in the end, they're only humans and they can't do everything and make everyone happy.

*looks up* OTL now it sounds like I'm bragging with my friends TT.TT I swear this sounded better in my head! TT^TT

Haha, but I guess it depends on the user itself. Some people try to get closer to popular authors to gain popularity as well.
Or they even get random requests to read this and that, or to make this and that, or to change this or that in their stories, so in a way, it'd make them unapproachable.
Popular or not, everyone is a human being on this site. Some are more active than others, but everyone has a life, struggles and problems. This site was supposed to relieve stress, to make friends and to get to know different people, not to be a race of popularity or most up-voted stories.
I'm generalizing here, Kat :D. But I think you know what I mean.
I wouldn't even call myself popular here, but I've had my share of displeasing events.
But I'm giving you the thumbs-up, because you're right about them. As long as one approaches another (popular or not) with an honest mind, nothing will ever go wrong ^^

The male in context seems very familiar to me, the traits you have bestowed to him is definitely reminiscent to ones and I have heard or read before.

I think that everyone is different and everyone has different experiences with different people.
Some people have had positive experiences with some of the popular authors and others have had very negative experiences with them.
Personally, I appreciate it if an author even replies to my comment once in the whole course of a fanfic. It shows that they appreciate them and the comments aren't just there for the sake of it.
I believe that all comments on the final chapter should be replied to, to thank the subs and readers for reading it with them. But that's just me and my weird thoughts :)

I agree with you. I've also exchanged a couple of messages with one of the most popular authors and she was insanely nice. Unfortunately people seem to have a twisted image of her.
