Clearing my doubts..

Some said that DSLR's batteries should be charged 8 hours on the first charge as to ensure long battery capacity. Some say it's not neccessary. So, I want to know if I need to charge it for 8 hours? I charged it for 6 hours previously with my 500D. Some help please?

just charge it, i did it. like when we bought.a phone, we need to charge it for 4/6 hours, i think this is to make the batteries ready to use.

I charge it for 8 hours. They say to charge 8 hours to maximum the battery life I guess. That's what I heard from the seller. ^^
