okay so one of the fans made a guide for seventeen on tumblr here: this is meowingming or mao. she covered the general information about seventeen. pretty accurate too might i add. someone made another, more detailed and recent one but i can't find it. our fandom base is unofficial: SM17E. there was a poll on instagram by one of the fanaccounts and this was the result. this is the whole fandom name in general. the people i chat with on twitter, we refer to them as the tlist ( we don't actually have a twitter list. we just call ourselves tlist ). the twitter family, is called #FAM17Y. our policy is that "everyone can join, but you have to talk to us first," on 130812 we had our first civil war. there was a sm17e who talked bad about the whole fandom because she thought we were ignoring her ( when she didn't even talk to us in the first place ). she changed her twitter name, but she's still here on the seventeen story tag.

seventeen has a ustream where we watch them practice. its kind of like a predebut show only it's real time. in the beginning they seemed really enthusiastic ( they still are don't get me wrong ) but they are starting to look more and more tired each broadcast. if you want to know more about the members and read their individual profiles, click here.

moving on. so i'm sure you know that the members are from 95line all the way to 02 line. from oldest to youngest, you have: choi seungcheol, jang doyoon, yoon junghan, hong jisoo, wen junhui, kwon soonyoung, jeon wonwoo, lee jihoon, yao mingming, lee seokmin, kim mingyu, bu seunggwan, hansol 'vernon' chwe, lee chan, shin dongjin, and lastly samuel. there are many lines in seventeen so bare with me now. aside from their birth lines, we have...

​dance line : soonyoung, chan, jihoon. they are the dancing machines of seventeen. each one has a different style. soonyoung has your typical kpop boy style, with his added flexibility. think of him as a really flexible kai. chan is the youngest of the dance line, but don't be fooled. in his choreography, all you'll ever see is body waves, y face, hip rolls and maybe even pelvic grabs. y, y all throughout. jihoon emulates the dancing style of popular american dance crews. with that being said, you can easily compare his dancing to abdc crews such as mos wanted crew ( which happens to be his favorite group ).

vocal line : seunggwan and seokmin. these two are considered to be the power vocals in seventeen. the break everyone's speakers when they use the microphones during livestreams because of their outstanding high notes. but their high notes are nothing compared to jihoon's dolphin notes.

visual line : there isn't a visual line but since most groups have one, then i decided to just put it here. everyone likes to call themselves a part of visual line. i'ts kinda a long running joke with all of them. personally, i think visual line would consist of mingyu, doyoon, mingming, jisoo, and junghan.

english line: joshua ( aka jisoo ), hansol, and samuel. all three of the boys can speak fluent enlish. what's more, they're all from america. joshua has lived in america the longest so he still has an american accent. he's probably the most fluent in english. then you have hansol. hansol's famous phrase is "oh my god". there's even a compilation floating around on tumblr. i have to go look for it though. samuel speaks english but we don't hear it too often.

japanese line : soonyoung, chan, and wonwoo. this isn't really a confirmed line, but we can take a few things from what we've seen/heard. since there is a rumor going around that they may split into subgroups, there are members who are learning japanese. often, they like to translate what the other members are saying in different languages so everyone can understand. soonyoung is fluent in japanese. chan and wonwoo both translated a message to sm17e during their first seventeen show. i swear. chan is japanese. his pronunciation is top notch.

china line / mingry : mingming and junhui. they're the only two chinese members and they're so violent negl. let me guide you to this beautiful fmv of mingry. it warms my heart every time i watch it. it explains everything you need to know about mingry.

98 line / seungsol : seunggwan and hansol. they're the only two members of the 98 line and they love each other like brothers. there's a lot of skinship between these two and they're so lovable. please watch this video that brought be to tears.

holy trinity : junghan, jisoo, dongjin. these are the awkward three. they're the lastest additions to seventeen and they are often found in cam9 together, or in a corner off somewhere. the like singing songs that jisoo plays on his laptop. you can watch this cut to see what i mean.

troll line / soonseok : soonyoung and seokmin. they are probably the most ghei boys in seventeen and they're quite the entertainers. their couple has been around for a long time. in fact, you can see it in this derpy video here. their catchphrase is "soonseok talk, seoksoon talk, everybody talk, kakao talk, baby talk talk talk~!"

moving on from lines, we have the ships. there are way too many ships in seventeen, but i will explain to you the most popular ones:

appacheol + ummayoon : seungcheol and doyoon. they're mommy and daddy. i don't know too much about them other than the fact that they're the two oldest members and they're really cute together. think of them as exo's xiuhan only more popular. here's an fmv that really cute.

jungsoo : junghan and jisoo. according to junghan, jisoo was the first member to approach him when he first arrived at the dorms. they're also always seen with each other sitting around cam9. they don't really do much in terms of talking but it's their subtle actions that make them every little bit of cute.

soonhoon : soonyoung and jihoon. in season two, these two were the respective leaders of red dance team and blue dance team. they both have leadership skills, but of course they have different styles of teaching. soonyoung can be serious but he always finds a way to have fun during practice. the choreography for jackson 7 ( blue team ) was probably the best thing i'd ever seen. it was perfect, and it really showed off their skills. jihoon isn't at all mr. smiles when he's teaching members choreo. he likes to have everything in synch. the reason why many people ship them together is because they are close in terms of dancing skill and age. and also, they look like chan's mom and dad.

mingry : mingming and junhui ( aka jerry ). already explained.

hoongyu : mingyu and jihoon. i don't really know the offiial name for this ship but this is what i'm going to use. during the earlier season, jihoon was always piggybacking mingyu. they also goof around with each other during broadcasts so i think it's a popular brotp.

meanie : mingyu and wonwoo. i don't know a lot about these two other than the fact that in earlier seasons, they had a lot of skinship. they were always hugging, and biting, and holding hands and whatnot. i think of it as seventeen's equivalent for xiuchen. the reason for the ship name is because migyu's name was known by smiles before wonwoo's was. wonwoo was mr. beanie at the time so it became meanie. here's an fmv of our lovely meanie.

soonseok : soonyoung and seokmin. alr explained.

seungsol : seunggwan and hansol. alr explained.

jisol : jisoo and hansol. they're probably the most popular members of seventeen imo because they speak english. this couple exists mainly because they're often seen speaking in english with each other. mmmmm that's about it i suppose.

dumbmic : soonyoung and seunggwan. / mr. dumbbell and mr. mic. this ship is kind of terminated now but during season 1, soonyoung and seunggwan often talked to each other because they were considered to be the "emcees" of seventeen tv. i still have hopes that they will bring life to the ship again but it's not looking so good. in regards to the ship name, dumbmic was created back when we didn't know what their names were. they just went as mr. mic and mr. dumbbell.

chansol : chan and hansol. omg this ship is too cute for words. basically they're like really good brothers. chan helps hansol with dancing, hansol helps chan with rapping. they also do a lot of choreo work together.

chanjin : dongjin and chan. the two maknaes before samuel. this isn't as popular as i want it to be but what i like about this ship is that they're the youngest. dongjin is really tall and mature for his age whereas chan can sometimes be a bit of a handful. like one time, chan was super hyper one day and dongjin just judged so hard.

okay so hopefully i got the major ships out of the way. there are really so many ships possible that i can't even give a proper description to some of them. i don't ship any of seventeen romantically so maybe that's why i'm having a hard time. all i know is that most of the fandom likes calling them ghei because well...they act like it!

so now i'll be moving on to social networking sites. seventeen has a twitter which during broadcasts, they have a thing called "twitter time". they call in some of the members and from there, the members can chat with us. most of the time, they choose ones on korean though. soonyoung is notably the slowest typer since he types with two fingers like an elementary school kid, and wonwoo who can mow through mentions like it was his lunch or something. they change the broadcasting times i think every two season depending on school holidays for the boys and whatnot. they have a youtube account which has recordings of previous streams.

tlist is mostly made up from people from asia/europe ( with a few exceptions of americans and canadians ). we are a veeeeeery large group in two days, i was able to compile a list of only a small handful of tlist members. it's amazing really. a lot of the tlist members are part of the 98/99 line. then we have like four or five babies in 00/01. brenda ( @buseungkwans // @mrdumbbell ) is currently the eldest at 93 line. most of us know each other from ustream chats or whatever. we often exchange line/kik/kkt/jailed acc/ustream/aff names/insta. it's really amazing how we pretty much know each other because we are such a small fandom. as you noticed, we have matching dps made by our beautiful van(essa) ( @seventeenpls ). there's also germ(aine) (@leese0kmin // @leesuckmin ) who is always getting jailed. pretty much all of us gets jailed. some of us even get our jailed accounts jailed. there are also birthday projects, but i'm sure you know what those are. lol.

as far as inside jokes go, we don't really have any. we're a pretty simple fandom. just play along and you'll get it. we are kids after all so our level of thinking isn't really that advanced. with a few exceptions of course. many of us know each other from tumblr since a lot of them make edits or post screetshots. we also don't have a mind of english, punctuation, or grammar. it pretty much disappears when we tweet to each other or at seventeen. a lot of sm17es who don't approach us might get mad too because we do a lot of indirect tweeting to each other. it's a bad habit but it doesn't look like it's going to be broken soon hahaha. there are also a lot of ships in fam17y - with each other or their biases:

asianfanfics. here on aff, there are really limited stories on seventeen. not to brag or anything but for informational reasons i'll say it: i'm the most popular author in the tag. there are many other writers such as seung-cheol and gongjyuu or or even j-ihoons that have stories that i enjoy reading. the member with the most stories is hansol ( which i actually haven't written a story for ). my most popular story ( and might i add most cliche ) story is "hey there, brace face!" which happens to be soonyoung. it's the very first soonyoung story ever made, and probably the most successful multi-chaptered story in the tag. which i find really funny because there aren't a lot of sm17es who are soonyoung stans yet they read it. it's really funny.

seventeen's talent donation activity - this was probably the first video i ever watched on their account. it was so cute and the music was really fitting so you know...who wouldn't like the video? looking at it now, they've really grown up since we met them in late 2012. actually, i just watched it again and i'm crying. they grew up so quickly, and they really did change. i just never noticed since i was there with them since the beginning. omg hold up. i'll finish this later.

seventeen after broadcasting - this was after one of the broadcasts. i actually didn't get to watch that livestream that day so idk what happened. i think they turned the cameras back on? i don't really know. anyway they're dancing around and singing to one of nu'est's songs.

colorful artist 2 - another really high ranking video on my list. this one has a lot of soonyoung cuts so i enjoy watching it. anyway the boys are playing around with finger paint in this one. it's nice to see them having fun while nu'est's beautiful solo plays in the background.

close to you - i don't really knwo what's going on in this video but i think they were acting out scenes from nu'est's yobuseyo/? well anyway, if you watch the video with english subs, it will bring you to tears because of their messages at the end. well, i cried at soonyoung's but maybe it's because i'm biased.

good morning seventeen! ( part 1 ) ( part 2 ) it's like the first episode of mtv diary. they wake up the members, and get ready for their schedules. in this case, we watch the members wake up, get ready, and go to school. jihoon gets a lot of camera time because he refused to get up from bed - hahaha. there are many eng subbed videos, i'm just too lazy to find them since i'm already on pledis' official youtube acc.

seventeen's first profile sketch - pretty much a video of them during a photoshoot with ariana grande in the back. this is kinda like tlist's theme song.

- every episode, they sing their opening logo song

- at the end of each episode they play a game or do aegyo

- jihoon has a chair he sits in when he plays guitar for the opening song

- we call it jichair since he's surgically attached to it

- we also ship jiwall because he thinks it's y ( there's a video to it here )

- doyoon and wonwoo are usually in the corner playing on their iPad
