BECAUSE OF YOU MY HEART WEARS ARMOR NOW

background — Soonye's childhood was rocky to start. She was born the second daughter and youngest child of one of the most dysfunctional couples anyone had ever seen (they were constantly fighting, screaming at each other, and her father had cheated on her mother on numerous ocassions). They finally divorced when Soonye was four and she and her sister lived with their mother, seldom hearing from their father, but they still lived a pretty happy life regardless - definitely much happier than when he was around, anyway. Her mother moved herself and the girls to nearby Busan and poured herself into her work in order to distract herself from her failed marriage. As Soonye got older, she desperately craved a male figure and attention in her life to make up for the gap her father left behind.

And one day she found it in the form of Kim Hyunbin (who would later be her first... well, everything), an underground hip hop dancer. He was in high school and she was still a middle schooler when they first ran into each other (he was dancing in the subway for cash). She introduced herself and badgered him into teaching her how to dance like him. He obliged and introduced the young girl to the  scene and discovered the girl actually had quite the talent for dancing.

She was constantly sneaking out so she could hang out with her new group of friends and dance and her mother was none the wiser. Her sister knew, and simply said that if she got into any trouble she wouldn't help her. And she managed to stay out of trouble until she was 13. A dancer had a party and Hyunbin invited her to tag along; against her better judgement she went. That night she lost her ity... and got busted for underage drinking. She later had to explain to her mother how she knew "those people". Her mother simply told her that if she wanted to dance so much, she had to do it in a more productive manner, so she agreed to take a dance class. A few months later, her sister had recently become a fan of TVXQ and suggested that she audition to become an idol. Her mother approved of the idea and the rest is history. Unfortunately, in becoming an idol trainee, she lost the respect and friendship of her underground friends back in Busan, including Hyunbin.

personality in a flash — Hopeless romantic. determined, gullible, free-willed.

personality —  Soonye likes doing what she wants, when she wants, how she wants and she's not quick to let other's opinions influence her (but eventually she might see that other people actually do have a good point when it comes to some of her more poor life decisions). She's pretty unapologetic about it too. She believes "what if" is one of the most dangerous phrases in the world, so when she has her heart set on something, she'll pursue it until she's achieved what she wanted or until she's too exhausted to continue.

She is in love with the idea of love and she really wants a picture-perfect relationship; the exact opposite of the one her own parents had. She has a tendency to go looking for it all on the wrong places and in all of the wrong people, but she doesn't realize this until it's already too late and she winds up heart broken. But she keeps trying and she knows one day she'll get it right (at least she certainly hopes so). She's optimistic and friendly. She has no problems chatting with others and seems comfortable in almost every social situation. Even if she dislikes someone, she still shows a kind side to avoid unecessary drama.

She is easily tricked and believes a lot of what people tell her. It was so bad in the past that she taken to googling things to confirm them when they sound too outlandish even to her. Her gullibility has also had a part in the numerous times she's had her emotions played with by friends and boyfriends alike.

fatal flaw —  Her desire for love has and will continue to lead her to some pretty irresponsible decisions.

dress style — It's rare to find Soonye comfortably wearing a skirt of her own free will. She likes her skinny jeans and sneakers; hoodies and leather jackets. Fashion is not her priority, but she has been known to doll herself up and attempt to look cute when she wants to impress somebody. Most days though, she is "Super Girl"'s resident fashion terrorist, so thank goodness for the stylists! She's a huge fan of oversized sunglasses.

family

mother - Jung Sunyoung, 44 (2008) /49 (2013), accountant, 3. Sunyoung suffers from a lack of confidence and low self-esteem, but she provided for her daughter's needs despite being somewhat closed off from them. She's supportive and good source of advice for Soonye (even though Soonye doesn't always take her advice seriously).
father - Chae Hyunmin, 49 (2008) / 54 (2013), shipping clerk, 1. In Soonye's opinion, her father was a jerk with no sense of family loyalty. He was his only priority and he has no concern for the feelings of others. She hasn't spoken to him since her 11th birthday and has no intention of doing so for the rest of her life.
older sister - Chae Soonji, 19, student, 3. Soonji is a rather conservative and traditional girl with a no-nonsense personality. She's serious, studious, and acts really feminine. She and Soonye aren't super close, but they do care about each other a lot and call each other to vent about their lives.

close friends -

Kim Kibum (soon to be known as "Key"), 17, trainee. Snarky, sociable, caring towards those around him (unless he considers them to be his serious competition). They met when Key became a trainee. He insulted her for looking so manly in dance class, she insulted him for his corny haircut, and they became fast friends, having a mutual respect for each other's sassy attitudes. [Soonye would later become apart of the infamous "91-Line" with Key].

Cho Hyunyoung, 17, trainee (formerly SM, currently with DSP). Hyunyoung is bubbly, sweet, and a bit of a prankster. She's got a good sense of humor. They met as trainees, entering SM around the same time. However, when Hyunyoung wasn't selected for "Super Girls", she transfered to DSP so she could have a better chance to debut. She'll later become a member of Rainbow. Since Hyunyoung moved companies and both girls are busy, most of their communication takes place video phone calls, texts, and leaving each other kind messages on each other's cyworld pages. Once in a blue moon, they're able to meet for coffee and pastries or go to a norebang lounge.

The Star (see application). They were alright acquaintances while they were just trainees, but once they were recruited for "Super Girls", their sisterly relationship blossomed. Both girls aren't worried about their images, so they're not afraid to have a good time and trust me, when they're together, the good times are plentiful.

LISTEN BOY. MY FIRST LOVE STORY.

love interest — Lee Jaejin [FT Island]

personality — Jaejin is that big, manly teddy bear that every girl wants in their lives. He's sweet, smart (or so he claims), funny, and is working tirelessly to make a successful career in music. Unfortunately, he lacks confidence with the ladies so he's chronically friend-zoned, no matter how much he puts himself out there but this time he's certain things are going to be different... or at least he hopes it'll be. When he's with the boys, he acts super competitive and masculine (talking loudly, showing off how tough he is) but when he's around girls he's calm and thickly lays on the charm.

their tale — "Super Girls" and FT Island debut around the same time and, thus, they are constantly around each other at music programs, variety shows, etc. Their first significant interaction is when, shortly before going on stage, Soonye ends up having a small wardrobe malfunction (split pants or something, she's totally unaware of it) and Jaejin covers her up and directs her back to her stylists to get the situation fixed. After expressing her gratitude to him, they strike up a close friendship. They talk constantly about their lives as newly debuted idols and hang out (movies, shopping, karaoke, sneaking to each other's dorms) when their schedules permit. Jaejin tries to ignore the crush he develops for her, but realizes he can't - especially not after she starts hanging out with Seungri. [Note: I'll let the authors decide if they actually end up happily together in the end. ^^]

backup love interest — Kim Hyunbin (OC; ulzzang: Sunho - age 21 in 2008, 26 in 2013)

personality — Hyunbin has a borderline apathetic aura about him. The world could be ending and the boy would still give off the vibe that he just doesn't care... but he really does. He would just rather keep his thoughts and emotions to himself to avoid trouble, which he has gotten himself into a lot of in the past. Like Soonye, he likes just doing what he wants regardless of having other's approval. He is a serious introvert who, despite his love of forming meaningful relationships, likes to spend a lot of time alone so he can relax and destress from the day. He may go days at a time without really reaching out to anybody, especially if he's exhausted or if he feels like someone causes him too much unnecessary stress.

their tale — Hyunbin met Soonye when he was dancing in the subway for some extra pocket money. Like Soonye, his parents were divorced and he lived with his mother who was just making enough to pay off bills but not really do much else so he had to earn his own spending money somehow. Soonye begged him to teach her to dance and he did. He initially saw her as a little sister, but as they spent more time together and Soonye got a little older, his opinion changed. He began flirting with her and she instantly accepted it. They were never an "official" couple, but it was sort of understood by everyone around them that they belonged to each other and they "sealed the deal" at a party. Not long after that, Soonye moved to Seoul to pursue a career as an idol and all of the underground dancers absolutely loathed her for it. Hyunbin was peer pressured into avoiding her and this left her a bit heartbroken. In 2008, he moved to Seoul hoping to become a professional dancer. He couch surfed between extended family members and family friends while he looked for work and at the end of the year landed a gig dancing back up for Rain and he crashes back into Soonye's life at a music event.

do you want a love rival? — Seungri [Lee Seunghyun, Big Bang]. The boy knows how to get any woman he wants with his good looks, adorable smile, and smooth talking - and that includes Soonye. He's not a truly bad person, he just doesn't want to commit and Soonye just doesn't see this - she's got herself convinced that she can "tame" him and one day they'll be a happy couple, but Seungri will never let that happen. He's young and doesn't want to settle down until he's well into his 30s. He knows he's probably hurting Soonye to some extent, but what kind of guy would he be if he denied such a pretty girl who keeps coming back to him?

SO TELL ME YOUR WISH!

stage name — Sooin [SM felt that 'Soonye' sounded too much like'Sunye' and didn't want to get her easily mixed up with Wonder Girls' leader]

stage persona — Airheaded Friend (combination of her gullibility and her friendliness towards everyone she meets)

fanclub — In Love [The 'In' in 'Sooin' and 'Love' because her fans love her and know that she's a romantic at heart]

talent stats —

singing - 60/100

dancing - 90/100

rapping - 75/100

variety -65/100

acting -30 /100

vocals Bomi [A Pink]

dance Stephanie [CSJH]

rap Baby J [Jewelry]

talents —  Dancing [hip hop, popping/locking, modern, ssanti],

audition  —   In 2004, Soonye decided to at least give auditioning for SM a shot and a prepared a song to sing at their weekly auditions. When the day came for her audition, she began to sing but half-way through the first verse her nervousness caused her to forget the lyrics, so instead she began dancing in order to save herself some embarassment. Her judges were impressed and asked her to try again the next week at SM's building with a different song and a more polished dance. When she came back, she sang and danced to BoA's "ID; Peace B" and the judges passed her. A few weeks later she officially received and sign her trainee contract.

weak points —  Her singing voice isn't extrmely powerful. She has a hard time projecting live and, if she has to do a complicated dance move and singing at the same time, her vocals may sound a bit unstable.

trainee life —  Soonye's trainee life wasn't full of hardships, nor was it full of too much excitement either. She transferred to a high school in Seoul to make things easier on her academically and to cut down on the need to travel to Busan and back. She started in the female trainee dance classes but her teacher noticed that she had a lot more power to her moves than the other girls and didn't want to waste it and had her switched to the boys' class. Some of the girl trainees were jealous because she got to hang out with the boys all the time, but they didn't really do much to her aside from making snide comments behind her back (they would call her a terrible singer and a ).

what drives her— Love. Her love of dancing and her desire to receive love after not having enough of it growing up.

goals — To become a choreographer for her group and other groups; to be in a committed relationship

rival —  The Beauty. She's always been annoyed with her because of her ideal looks. They could be at practice and The Beauty would be constantly praised, mostly because of how "pretty" or "gorgeous" she looked doing something versus actually being good at whatever that something was. Meanwhile, Soonye's talents would be overshadowed. Soonye sincerely does like the girl (she's got a great personality and all), but there are days where she just wishes she would get lost somewhere for a few hours.

I GOT A BOY, A HANDSOME ONE! I GOT A BOY,A KIND ONE!

(I could go crazy with the Hyoyeon gifs... but I won't. ^^)
scene requests:
» Soonye gets frustrated with The Beauty and The Queen during a rehearsal for their dance battle choreo and walks out of the room for a moment.
» A huge fight with Jaejin over the fact that she's gone back to Seungri for the umpteenth time. There's yelling, Jaejin breaks something. After he storms out, Soonye shuts herself off from the group in her room, crying.
» Lots of awesome friendship moments between Soonye and The Star.
» (pretty sure this is going to be a super unpopular suggestion but I figured I'd just throw it out there.... ^^) Black Ocean for the group
suggestions: --
other: Good luck with the story guys! Also, I'm well aware that Bomi is a lead vocalist in A Pink but, as much as I adore the group, the only one I would consider to have legit outstanding vocals is Eunji and everyone else is just average. But if you would rather me pick a different vocal twin, I will. ^^
