Pinboo: Der Marchenclub message

Okay, this was obviously too long to post on your wall so please bear with me as I had to make a blog post on this.

(Deep breath) Okay, here I go...

Dear pinboo,

Author-nim...your story was the first story I've read on AFF that gave me chills and also had me crying. Usually, the suspenseful fics I read here are pretty predictable in nature but I just had to keep reading your story, my eyes were glued to the screen. It was beautifully, yet horrifically written given the shivers it sent down my spine. It kept me on the edge as I imagined DMC to be a movie - the plot was just so rich and I cannot praise you enough ^_^ I admit, I'm a bit critical when it comes to the stories I read here, and yes the title stood out to me. The minute I finished reading the foreword, BAM, you got me.

I remember someone mentioning that English is not your first language, but other than a few mistakes here and there, everything seemed perfect. I was engrossed in your story and I'm kind of sad to have just discovered now since it was the first ad on AFF. Because while I didn't have to wait painstakingly for an update as all chapters were available, the wait, would build up more suspense and I know I would hungrily dive onto the web to read your next chapter.

DMC...you know I expected it to be a horror story resulting in blood shed, but you are right. Death is easy and quick. Misery is what they aimed. And I could see the characters' poised and graceful manner unravel and be corrupted through this simple, whimsical yet dangerous game. I appreciate a good psychological thriller here and there and this was no exception. Though I have never commented since I see myself to remain silent till the end, I also enjoyed analyzing their characters even though it sent me chills (I'm a scaredy-cat to be honest hehe) and what you have created author-nim...was wickedly beautiful. I was frightened, I worried for the characters (especially for my OTP's)! and moreover, just intrigued by the slow tantalizing nature of death, trauma  and the sadistic nature just wrapped it all together to make it perfect. I also liked how Jessica and Heechul, though changed through the traumatic events, still remained stubborn and prideful in some ways.

I also would like to applaud you on handling all those characters in a way where I am not introduced to them in a rushed manner, because in reality, one would not expect to meet everyone at one place at one time. The transition from scene to scene, the moments where you'd drop a plot twist and the character development, my God, I can't help but love this story with all my heart. I've always been a er for twisted fairy-tales hehe. But your story neatly incorporated fairy-tale into reality (even though I know you said it was AU) and so I had to look it as one, the murders being a crime, and two, simply satisfying a mentally unnourished girl.

The simple yet complicated balance between the deranged game and reality was splendid (which is why I loved Sungmin's character. As a cop, he is no doubt, a committed member of society, with good will and judgment. I really never thought it'd be him to turn out that way. It was sad even though I did not actually pity him but his relationship with Sunny was what I had used had light to see him a humane way. Otherwise, he was a rather cold man that the members of DMC thought as incompetent.  Also, how the characters unexpectedly turn against each other was a great element in this story.

Overall, I am so sorry for you to read through this LONG message, it's just that it's really been awhile since I have been addicted to a fic on AFF and your's stole the cake! I hope you continue to write and though I am a little disappointed that there is no sequel, I can completely understand as that would deter the story's ambiguity and that wouldn't be fun. However I save my insatiable thirst for your other stories. You've really caught my interest author-nim and once again, I apologize for this supremely long message! Hehe, I just get so caught up in what I want to say, I end up rambling. Congrats on DMC for being featured, you deserve this the most! :)

Dear Vicky,

First of all, thank you for this lovely surprise. When I first opened the page and discovered that you've written me a very heartwarming letter, I felt so touched. Then I got to read it, and I felt like I wanted to cry.

Anyway.

I'm glad, foremost, that you gave this story a chance. And yup, you got the essence of the story -the contrast between the beauty and danger (or so I hope I manage to portray it that way, hehe). Thank you, and movie? That surely is a compliment. I'm glad if you can enjoy the plot. And glad that the foreword managed to get your attention, hehehe.

Though maybe you weren't with me through the development of this fic, I surely am glad that you are here now and have the chance already to read the fic. Yup, maybe it's better this way because trust me, I tortured my old readers a lot with the long waits and all, hehe.

Yup, yup. Tiffany's sadistic idea of torturing the peoples' mentality is one of the drive of the story. I actually still think that you've been thinking of this story too high -this, I don't know, may not yet be classified as psychological thriller.

But if it somehow can be classified that way, then I'm glad. Honored, really. And I also said this to other commenters, but really, the biggest praise you can get as an author is when your readers are analyzing the stories, discussing and brainstorming about them - so yeah, I really am thankful and your analysis on the characters made me feel appreciated, so thank you! By any chance, who are your OTPs anyway? Did I kill them? hehe. Yup, Heechul and Jessica's pride is one of the supposedly comic relief part, maybe.

Thanks for the commetn on characters - I tend to like the comments on characters more than comments on plot, hehe. So yeah, I'm glad you paid attention to them :) Fairy tales? hehe, yup, the most absurd fairy tales is reality after all -that's one of the implied message in the story.

Sungmin's character... glad if you like him. He's not my favorite character, but he's on my Top5 -despite how cruel he actually is. I think there was once this much more innocent boy within him -who, by the unfortunate course of events, was swept away. And yup, the game tries to awake the monsers within the characters. :)

No, no, I am thoroughly thankful for the long and heartwarming message and I'm going to remember it. I'm glad if you can enjoy the story and yeah, the story's ending's ambiguouity is one of my projected aim, so I'm not gonna change it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DEAREST!
