July Book Recommendations

A-yo~! As said on my latest chapter of "Choose to Believe"; based on your votes, I've decided to do a book recommendation every month. Because it's only the beginning of August, I decided to focus on my reads of July.

We start off with "Angelfall" written by Susan Ee. Angelfall was a book that I randomly picked up because of the interesting book cover (as seen below). I went into this book thinking it was going to be a cheesy angel meets girl and then they fall in love. Turns out, shiz hits the fan. The basic run down of this book is that a girl named Penryn is caught in the midst of an apocalypse. This isn't your typical zombie apocalypse, but instead one of angels. Weird, amirite? Basically, the angels have come to kill all the humans so they can start a new human race or do whatever angels do.

After that whole background story, we find that Penryn is trying to find a new place to live because her neighborhood is beginning to be overrun by incoming gangs. As she runs out with her family (little sister and mother), she finds angels battling within their own race. Basically, she sees a bunch of angels gang up on another angel and they cut off his wings. The angels then find Penryn and her family and they take her sister away. She then is determined to find her sister, so she takes advantage of the angel with no wings and uses him to find her sister. That's where shiz hits the fan. I'll leave you at that. ^^

The next and last book is one named "The Dark and Hollow Places" written by Carrie Ryan. This is yet another apocalypse book. I also went into this book with a rather closed mind. I thought this was going to be another emo and stereotypical boy meets girl story; especially because of the back cover. Yet again, I was fooled and turns out; shiz yet again hits the fan. (The fan must be dirty.) Anyhow, we meet another girl named Annah who is fighting in a post apocalyptic world in what was New York City. She waits for her "brother" Elias who went to join the Recruiters (the "government", haha not really). She first tries to go back to her village after waiting for Elias for say three years, I think? Anyhow, she's on the bridge to get out when she sees her twin sister. Her sister is fighting with some Recruiters over a guy and the guy falls off the bridge to the watery abyss. She then finds this guy again (named Catcher btdubs) as she's fighting for her life in an alley. Catcher saves her and tells her that he's here to bring her to Elias. Then stuff happens and they basiclaly fight for their survival. Yay~!

That's it for my July book Recommendations. Hope y'all enjoyed~!
