Breaking my silence to talk about f(x)’s new album, Pink Tape.

Before SNSD broke their way into my heart, f(x) was my bias girl group, and I still super duper support them.

“Rum Pum Pum Pum” has been out for awhile now, and I’ll admit, while I do like the song, it is certainly no “Electric Shock”. When I heard “Electric Shock”, it took everything in my body not to dance. “Rum Pum Pum Pum” is kind of the song you listen to when you’re doing chores. It’s nice to sing along to but no one’s going to go crazy if it comes on at the club or on the radio. I like it, I just think they could’ve chosen a different song. I heard the song they were actually going to perform, SM lost the rights to at the last minute SO I think RPPP was going to be like the “Jet” of last year, but they used it to replace the main song. But at least RPPP is doing really well on the charts :)

The video was typical SM stuff, but I actually liked it. I loved the outfits, the dance, and how confident and y all the girls looked. Everyone complained that it was the Krystal and Sulli show, but honestly, I didn’t care. They looked great. Sulli, for me, stole the whole video. She was gorgeous! And then there’s precious, ultimate bias Amber. Who were the stylists for “La Cha Ta”, “Nu ABO”, and “Chocolate Love”?? Bring them back so that these new people can stop giving Amber the last thing on the rack. When everyone was wearing tartan, why couldn’t they put her in fitted tartan pants instead of those tacky, cheap shorts? Instead of that hideous orange prison outfit, why didn’t they just keep the shorts and put her in a sleeveless fitted jersey? She did have 3 really nice outfits, but two of them, she wasn’t dancing in… just walking around the metal flower room and dancing on a glass thing.

Yesterday I listened to the full Pink Tape Album and WOAH! It is the best thing ever. Every single song is really well done. Every single one. And they’re all really unique songs too. I haven’t heard any other Kpop songs that sound similar to f(x)’s sound on this CD.

My personal favorites are “Pretty Girl”, “Toy”, and “No More”. “Pretty Girl” would’ve been such a fun release!! It’s not much of a choreographed dance track, but it’s the type of song you’d blast in your car and sing and dance to with your friends, and I think it would’ve made a cool video if SM actually did storyline videos. “Toy”, on the other hand, would’ve been the PERFECT release. It is a pure dance track and so damn catchy. I feel like they would’ve taken over the world with this song, and the dance would’ve probably had people foaming at the mouth. “No More” reminds me of the style of SNSD’s “Dancing Queen”, that whole 1950s and 60s feel. I heard that they bought the track from some other artist as well. It’s just a laid back song and sounds really cute without trying to. And we hear Victoria sing! I’m in love with the chorus. If I had a top 4, the song Amber co-wrote and composed, Goodbye Summer, would be it. It’s just genuinely a great song. I kind of wish Amber would’ve been the main vocals on it like originally instead of having a small rap, but Luna, Krystal, and the dude from Exo-K (D.O.) did amazing. Their voices were beautiful.

Overall, when I actually have some money, I’m going to order my copy. It’s absolutely worth every penny. F(x), congratulations on a PERFECT album :D!!
