Korean Military

WHEESUNG SENTENCED TO 3 DAYS IN JAIL FOR USING HIS CELL PHONE.

Okay guys, I just want to be very clear, I don't know much about the Korean military and their rules but I just wanted to share my opinion with you guys because sometimes I can't help but feel bad for not only celebs who have to join the military but the other normal citizens of Korean so here I go. :P

"Wheesung used his cell phone while he was at the hospital for a herniated disc and hair loss, and he has been sentenced to 3 days in military prison for that. With this, his discharge date of August 6 has been pushed back to August 9."

So let my be the first to say, Three days in jail? for using a cell phone?

Let me explain, I am being raised by feminists so if I were at a hospital and I wasn't allowed to use it, my first reaction would be ", don't tell me what I can and ing can't do." because I need a DESCENT reason why I can't use my cell phone in the first place.

I mean, If I have a herniated disc and hair loss, at least let me use my phone to call my family and friends and whatnot.

These soldiers can't do this and can't do that because they are part of the military, but why? Why are their so many restrictions? I get with the whole Se7en incident that they want to make things harder for celebrities in the military but if they got rid of the celebrity recruits A LONG time ago, none of this would be happening in the first place.

This is how I think about this, I live in the Philippines, we do not have conscription (Thank God), because I would probably cry every day until and after I join the military, wasting 2 years of my life to do something I don't love or have the will to do in the first place.

I just can't imagine being forced to do something for 2 years just because the government tells you to do it.

Now, I know Korea has the whole NK VS. SK issue, but, people have been asking to SHORTEN the length to maybe One year instead of Two. But what did their government say? a big fat N-O, explaining that their are more crimes and whatnot in their country and that they need to serve two years.

FAT LIE. Korea has one of the LOWEST crime rates in the world. HOWEVER, they have one of the HIGHEST Suicide rates, second only to Lithuania.

My country has political warfare, abuse of power, and is the third most dangerous country in the world for journalists (only in the southern parts of the country who practice extreme Islam). but we don't feel the need to force our people into serving for the military because - firstly, our people have been scarred by dictatorship that lasted until the 80's, secondly, our government is 50% comprised of women and women, generally, do not believe in fighting power with power, thirdly, people will not follow because we look at it as another person trying to dictate its people into doing the dirty work for them.

I'm not saying the Korean military isn't needed, let me be clear, because they do have some things to worry about. I just feel that some people don't want to waste two years of their life just because you have to practice being a soldier incase a war ever happens.

I don't really follow Wheesung or anything but the guy is having problems and hair loss, 3 days in jail could mentally damage him for life. The people who sue him don't think about the mental state of the people they charge. They forget about the person because they want to set an example, not out of conduct, but out of fear.

HERE ARE SOME TOP COMMENTS FROM AKP

"i would say RULES ARE RULES and Wheesung should have known better BUT seeing how he probably only used it for an emergency, i can't help but say their using him as a scapegoat to demonstrate the military's new tough stance against idols.  "

"You can go ahead and jail the whole army TBH -____- I've had enough friends in Korean army to know that basically everyone is breaking the same rules...But here those people are being hunt down just because they are celebs, meh."

What ever happened to moral conduct? civility? Treating others the way you want to be treated? Do any of these matter?

Apparently not, seeing that everyone can't feel for another human being anymore.

I'm a feminist in the lightest possible term. Feminist in it's basic meaning is just that men and woman should be treated equaly - equal pay, etc., etc..
BUT, the military is very strict. Se7en and those celebs got off very lightly for what they did. One man got thrown in military jail for a MONTH for slapping his junior officer on the -.-
What those celebs got was nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Some soliders are cry blue murder at the "punishment" for these soliders.
I think if you want accurate comments on this, you should go to netizenbuzz, it's what actual Korean citizens are saying, and not people who aren't familiar with Korea and it's rules, thinking, etc. ^^

*le sighs* there are just some parts of korea that's so messed up and people can't do anything about it. hopefully they'll open their eyes and see it from the soldiers' perspective.
