Hyunnie comes from a middle class family who owns a ramen shop in downtown Seoul. When she was little, she started to take violin lessons after begging her family to buy her one. From then on, she was trying her best to become a prodigy. Although, after watching a new group, Wonder Girls, perform, she was inspired to become a idol. When she turned 16 she went and applied at SM entertainment. She sang and played the violin. To her misfortune, they rejected her. She was determined to try again another year. When she turned 18, she singing a quiet tune while walking home from a friends house, and was approached by a YG representative for her lovely looks and voice. From that day on, she tried out for YG and was recruited.

Hyunnie is the typical girly-girl. It's really hard to not find her with a smile on her face. She's really polite, and very hardworking. She tries her best to be nice to people, but if somebody really makes her mad, she can be really scary. When something new is introduced to her, it is noted that she is really excitable. When challenged, she is very competitive and loses her soft looking nature. She's very humorous, and loves to crack jokes to ease the tension.
