Korean Class 2

Class resumed after missing one class because the professor needed to go to a convention. Today we opened with a movie about the JikJi, the oldest surviving book created using a movable metal typeset. The JikJi is 78 years older than the oldest surviving European book created using the same method. I took this class mainly to learn how to speak, read, and write in Korean, but it is really interesting to see how much Korea has impacted the world. Of course, this is only the second class, so I don't have much to base my observations on, but oh well.

So, after we watched the film we went over the vowels again. I had forgotten my flashcards at home, so before class had started I had made my own. They were a bit messy, but they served their purpose. Once we went through a couple of quizzes and matching, we started learning the consonants. Learning the individual letters isn't that hard for me, but getting the tones/pronunciation right is a bit difficult. Meh, I'll just need to practice more ^^. During the vowel matching games, we introduce ourselves using our Korean name (저는 이경아 입니다); then for the consonant game we learned how to introduce a classmate (이 분은 임나리 씨예요). We also learned 1-4 (일, 이, 삼, 사). Our homework for the week was to 1. Write our weekly journal entry, 2. Practice our consonants/vowels by reading whenever possible, and 3. Write a name tag. 네 That is all for this week.
