Unicorns, YG Stuff and Random Shizz
Sheathe your claws, put down those menacing pitchforks and torches (you ain’t the Statue of Liberty) and I shall explain why I and my updates have gone to ‘unicorn’ mode this month.
I know I haven’t updated in a long time. Well, that’s not exactly true. I have updated once this month AHAHAHA *sigh* The number of my unfinished fics haunt me but it can’t be helped. Not that I’ve been lazy this first month of summer. I’ve written chapter updates, for most fics anyway, but I didn’t have the urge to post it. Either I feel it’s lacking or the style I have used for that particular fic doesn’t go well with my usual audience. Also, I have different version sof every story that I can’t decide which one to post. Leaving Neverland, my supposedly fuff Tabisan, has four different versions, all with different plots and style. Ghad. See my dilemma?
So what have I been doing all this time other than making my life complicated? Ah, that will fall under random shizz but here are hints: Twitter, #TOPDaraselcajuseyo, Shanghai, South Korea, and shipping.
But on to YG stuffs, which have filled my timeline these past few days. Now, if you’re not familiar with YGE or just not that into KPop, you’d probably have no idea what the hell I’m rambling about. I’m talking about the recent scandals, news about YG talents, hate directed to their artists and all those other shizz I can’t remember or didn’t bother to check.
First is Se7en’s recent scandal. It’s disheartening to see one of your favorite artists undergo such ordeal. I’m pretty sure that if an ordinary soldier trainee would be in the same position, it won’t be this big. It’ll be hushed and be dealt with in a silent manner. Such is not the case of Se7en, who is not an ordinary soldier, but who is a celebrity whose life is constantly under a microscope. The price of being a celeb is having little privacy and such was Se7en’s case.
He’s caught on video, I know, but I don’t think it’s enough reason to hate him. I mean, what has he done to you exactly? It’s not enough reason to hate on Hanbyul. I seriously don’t get the logic of hating on his girlfriend, although rumors have been saying they’ve already broken up, way before he entered the army. It’s not enough for you to bring up previous scandals or news of his labelmates, because oh my god, it’s in the past and you just have to it up and get over it.
And whatever, you may even hate YG for not defending Se7en.
Here are my thoughts about YG’s silence. I don’t think he’ll be making a statement soon. He’s probably waiting for the investigation to be finished before he makes a move. I’d rather take his silence rather than a half-assed apology or explanation like what LOEN released during the time of IU-Eunhyuk’s.
[LOEN Hater!]
I’m not, okay? I’m fine with the company, their artists, but you have to admit that their explanation was so ridiculous at that time most were saying they shouldn’t have said anything instead.
Next is the news regarding new talents, particularly the new boy group. I don’t know if YG’s aware he’s creating a fan war already. And OMG, what kind of name is WINNER?! It sounds like WEINER!! OTL I don’t get YG at all. And this is the reason why you shouldn’t hate on Se7en. If it weren’t for him, TOP would be named Mark (LOL) and BIGBANG will be named Diamonds.
Last is the hate Dara has been receiving since Hwashin. I was offline that time so I wasn’t aware until I have opened my fangirling Twitter account. And lo and behold, the hate is overwhelming. I did a mini research, and it was because of something the MCs have brought up during broadcast, then made into an article by AllKPoop—the spelling’s right. ALLKPOOP—and blown out of proportion.
Advice: Don’t judge a person by the title of the article. It’s something they use in journalism. They omit things on the title to make the article more exciting than it is. Although in this case, it was done in a tasteless manner.
The comments directed to UEE were, uhm, intense and to think that most didn’t even bother reading the whole damn article. It was that long, and did not contain boring science or math stuff so I don’t get why they won’t read it. Then they make a comment, hurtful ones, that any fan would get angry upon reading such bull. And the fan war starts.
It reminded me of flies. Houseflies to be exact. House flies don’t care whose it was, why it was there, how long has that sitting. They don’t care about those, and they’d go buzzing while they go at it, rubbing their hands like some evil character from a bad sitcom. Why do they rub their hands like that anyway? Ugh. I hate flies. And proverbial flies because they talk without basis.
Now for some random shizz, another reason why I can’t update is that I’ve been travelling and lurking around Twitter (Twitter is unhealthy lol).
I’m currently in Incheon, paying a visit to my maternal grandparents and getting in touch with my Korean roots with my Caucasian boyfriend. Our visit in Korea is a lot lighter than our visit in Shanghai where my paternal grandfather scared the living out of my bf by making him think we’re part of Chinese mafia. God, his humor is so dark. But I love him so it’s fine…I think.
Twitter is fun…I’ve met some .lovely Gummybears. Not the food but Tabisan shippers. We’ve been brought together by some bizarre campaign--#TOPDaraselcajuseyo. Ah, we seriously need help with that. Who does not want seeing TOP and Dara together in a picture, no malice, just a picture?
On another note, this shipping thing, and I’m not pinpointing one particular ship because I’m aware a lot of ships are pretty much hardcore. Is it really necessary for a ship to be real? Like can’t we have crack ships? Are crack ships even considered ships? Gah! I’m so new.
It’s a source of fanwars that have polluted fun in KPop. Every ship is real. Or legit. Or whatever their shippers say.
If all KPop pairings are real, it’s gonna be a massive …to which I’m not against. ><
It’s just that it’s unhealthy…the wars spawned by hardcore shipping. Casual shipping is fine but hardcore is…hardcore. Ack! I’m out of words.Shipping is supposed to be fun. What many fans seem to forget is that people involved in their OTP are real people who are entitled to define their own relationship for themselves. To put it bluntly, I think it’s kind of unfair and horrible that they can’t have a normal friendship—
[Hardcore shipper: Friendship? They’re in a relationship! They’re ing dating!]
[Me: Shut up.]
--without awkwardly knowing that thousands of fans throughout the globe think they’re doing something hidden or whatever. Like brushing together. Hahaha I’m not funny. Considering the hectic and chaotic celebrity environment in which they work and live, KPop stars already have a hard enough time forming healthy relationships with other people. The mere existence of shipping culture only serves to further distort these relationships. And it certainly doesn’t help that fans take some sort of sick pleasure in shoving their preferred OTP’s in the faces of their idols, regardless of the appropriateness of the situation. Like in a concert venue. Where the half of your OTP is a guest of the other half.
I’m not butthurt or whatever…that my ship is stuck in some desert. I’ve known that fact ever since I decided to ship them. The reason why I’m coming so hard in this shipping shizz is because it’s a lot more harmful than what most fans seem to think. Imagine if your friends were constantly and unrelentingly pushing you to go out with one of your other friends, even though you have absolutely no feelings for that friend. What would become of the relationship between the two of you? Granted, there’s a slim chance you’ll live happiy ever after but more oftentimes than not, the pressure from these friends will effectively ruin your relationship. Multiply those friends by a million and throw in the romantically skewed nature of the entertainment industry. I’m not one of those KPopo idols you’ve been shipping, but there’s got to be some harm done when a friendship between two people is being forcibly manipulated and skewed by magnanimous outside forces for the sake of fulfilling a fans’ fantasy.
You’re free to do whatever you like upon reading these long post. Unfriend me, tell your friends, I won’t bear a grudge. It’s what I think and I’m not forcing you to believe what I say. But whatever. Casual shipping is healthy.
This is a long post.
I will update when I get back to States.
