Tumblr that got everyone pissed off: http://asianfanfic.tumblr.com/
Now, I am not saying I support that tumblr but I just want to talk about this. Sure, AFF is not a place where teachers mark fanfics for the grammar, language use etc etc and it's a place where we post fanfics for fun and we enjoy it.
But, is it really that hard to check on Google about your wrong use of tenses? Is it really that troublesome for you to right-click on the red, blue, green squiggly line under your words on your MS Word doc and correct it?
Sure, it may be just a place for you to post fanfics for fun but please at least have that amount of respect for your readers and yourself to make sure your fanfic has minimum grammar errors. And, we are not even talking about cliche plots, language use, descriptions of characters etc etc, just basic grammars that everyone who learns English, be it first-language or second-language should know.
Some of you might know, I am really particular about grammar use and I am turned-off by fics that have poor grammar. I did say on my wall to post on my walls if you want me to comment on them and I don't really mind the requests but what I really want to say is if your fics do not have good grammar, do you really feel confident about requesting people to read your fics?
And, most of the fics people requested from me on the Foreword, there's this thing that says.
"Please pardon me for my bad grammar. English is not my first language"etc
And, really the fic has e grammar. Which brings me back to my original point. It doesn't really take up much of your time to proof-read your chapters before posting it up. If you really want readers to notice your fics, enjoy your fics, I think you should at least spend some effort and time to deserve your readers/subscribers/commenters.
