My unobsession with Choi Minho
1. Key
2. Jonghyun
3. Onew
4. Taemin
5. Minho
This is what I'd say if someone asked me to rank the SHINee members by preference. It's not that I have anything against Minho. I mean, he's... well... Minho.
I just happen to like the other members more than him (Key gets 99.999% of my love).
Whenever Minho comes up in a conversation or I see his picture, I always go:
"... What a ho."
My little brother actually likes to bother me with this. When I'm listening to BAP, U-Kiss, Infinite, or even SNSD, he always says:
"WHERE'S MINHO?!"
That's not even the end of it. This is what he does to lyrics:
I LIVE WITH THIS KID
Anyway, I have a little story to tell. Last month, I actually went and bought the Misconceptions of You album.
I got Jjongie's photocard, which wasn't too bad (He wrote 'Buy two more copies' on the back of it; what a derp). So, having the chapter 1 album, I also wanted the chapter 2 album too.
In late May, I went to an anime convention (Anime North-goers, anyone?). Anime North usually has k-pop panels every year, so I went to a couple this year. The first I went to was called 'K-pop 101: Intro to Girl Groups'. They gave everyone a number and held a raffle at the end of it. Unfortunately, I didn't win anything, but I did get a lollipop for attempting to name the After School members (I later lost that lollipop). I tried to get into the boy groups panel too, but it was full and I couldn't get in.
The second panel I went to was held by TKMG, the Toronto K-Pop Meetup Group. They were holding a 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?' type of gameshow. They gave everyone two raffle tickets, and if you wanted a chance to be a contestant, you had to drop a ticket into a jar. Before the panel, they were giving away EXO photocards to people who answered questions correctly. I wasn't able to get one, so I was becoming depressed.
The panel started, and they started calling out numbers to participate in their gameshow. You had to answer 10 questions pertaining to k-pop. If you answer question five correctly, you get a mid-way prize. If you answer question 10 correctly, you get the grand prize. And you were only given two lifelines if you were stuck on a question.
They called out the first number (which wasn't me), and that person made it all the way to question 10, and won an I got a Boy album. At this point, I was REALLY depressed. I wanted something too! TT_TT
Then they called up the second contestant, so I blankly stared at my ticket as they read out the numbers.
"824584."
...
...
IT WAS MY NUMBER.
I raised my hand and practically screamed, "MEEEE!!! MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMMEMEMEMEEEE" I ran up the stage and they gave me a microphone, standing in front of 70+ people. I had to answer 10 questions for the grand prize. And the questions were ridiculously easy.
"How many members are there in Infinite?"
"What is this 2PM song?"
"When did SHINee debut?"
Although I had to use help from the audience for a rookie girl group question, they were so easy. At question five, I won a SNSD bracelet and lanyard. Then came question ten.
"Who sang this song?"
//mental facepalm
Well, I obviously got that right, and one of the staff went to get me my grand prize. It was wrapped in bubble wrap, and as he unwrapped it, it was like slow motion.
... SHINee's Misconceptions of Me album.
IT EVEN CAME WITH A POSTER. ASDFGHJKL; I was in SUCH a good mood. omg. why. god loves me. So, I sat through the rest of the panel, left to find my friends (to spazz), and then went to a Tim Horton's. I was sitting there, and then I decided to open the album.
The first few pages were glorious, I mean Key's freckles and Jjong being awesome. Then, in the middle of the photobook, the photocard fell out.
"Oh, it'd just be a dash of sunshine to my day if I recieved the lovely Kim Kibum's card. Although I wouldn't mind getting Jonghyun's again. I wouldn't mind Onew's or Taemin's either!"
... NOPE.
NOPE.
NOPE.
NOPE.
DAMMIT MINHO I DON'T WANT YOUR PHOTOCARD YOU HO
UGH.
WHY.
HO.
In the end, I kept it. I have a small frame where I display my photocards (and a beautiful picture of Chanyeol), and I wasn't sure how I was going to fit insignifigant Choi Minho's card in the frame.
But I managed.
Welp, that was my story on my unobsession with Choi Minho. It's a love-hate relationship. Thank you for reading.
What a ho.
