i always advertised my fics. and it actually work cause i advertised to those who are actually a fan of the characters in my fics :))

advertising makes some people angry. If you want to try, go for it, but people may respond aggressively XD
also, they don't really work. I don't think anyone actually pays attention to them. I ignore all of the advertisements on my wall, and I think that's the way for all people.
But if you mean advertising as in collecting Karma to get it on the side, then do that!
