(NAME) ie/ah

Hello

okay so I will just start my rant. I love how people who are not even korean love kpop so much and even write fanfics but I have a pet peeve for people who don't know how to use ie and ah after names so in here to help you the best I can as a korean American.

to start!

just read these sentences and tell me which one is right or wrong:

"Jiyongie lets go!"

"Where is jiyong ah?"

"Come on Jiyongie!!"

ill give you some time now

.

.

.

okay so none I them are right but good try If you got them wrong but if its right OMG I LOVE YOU

For the first one it may seem right but it just doesn't sound right if you know what I mean. I would use Jiyong ah instead.

For the second one you are looking for Jiyong but what you wrote is more like "Jiyong, where is?" Jiyong became the person you are talking to now. I would use  where is Jiyong but if you want you can use Jiyongie(used to younger/cute people mostly)

The third just sounds awkward.. I can't explain I am cringing. It's Jiyong ah for sure!

NOW THE TIP TO USE IE AND AH AFTER NAMES!!

sorry but it's just too confusing its almost like figuring out if its masculine or feminine French words. I know because it is my first language but I want to help you the best of my abilities.

YOU HAVE HOPE

1) if your story is in a office or something and your character just meets a person YOU CAN'T USE IE OR AH AFTER! OKAY? IT'S ONLY FOR FAMILIAR PEOPLE AND NEVER TO OLDER PEOPLE you should use just use unnie/oppa/noona/hyung for that and don't try adding "Jiyong ah Hyung/other" if you want to you can use "Jiyongie Hyung/other" but use it if the characters are cute or something

2) ah is more used when you are calling a person ;in my opinion) like:

Jiyong-ah what do you want to do?

But the tricky thing is it sounds weird sometimes if you put it in the end of the sentence like:

What do you want to do Jiyong ah?

This doesn't sound weird but I would most likely go with the first one.

3) ie is very tricky in my opinion. My 1/2 korean friend is still having troubles. It is used for cute things most of the time. When I was a kid I used to say "Hye-yongie wants to go too" but that's like aegyo. I recommend not using this one. Because I swear no one has used it right.

What do you think of these:

Jiyongie I want a dog
Can we buy a house Jiyongie
WOAH JIYONGIE YOU HAVE A BIG HEAD

(I am throwing up)

Lol Jiyongie sounds like jirungie (idk romanized ver.) and that's worm in korean

Anyways yeah so the final is don't use IE because it makes the story unprofessional ad it sort if looks amateur. If you want I can proof read it for you but I just recommend not using it. Ah is more better to control the mistakes but you still shouldn't use it because I never understood the small korean in the fics. The hyungs/noonas/unnies/oppa's are used right but the others... Not so much

Sorry if I offended you but what if your bias finds it because I am telling you now. They know most of the popular ships and that fanfics exist... Just saying
