Love is the most popular genre. The more heartbroken you are or were would mean the more you loved.

Well, speaking for myself, I feel as though people like to read about heart break because they have experienced it and want to see how someone else would feel after having their heart break. I think another reason might be for people who haven't had their heart broken yet, but want to read about what it's like when it happens.

I've been through heart break and I guess I enjoy heartbreaking genres too. I think I'm into it because it means I can relate to the character more.

I asume the most obvious reason people are into heartbreaking genre is because they're able to relate to it. I personally never been through a heartbreak so sometimes I end up reading or listening about it because the way they describe it is beautiful.
