Personality: Mai is very sweet and mature girl. She is very friendly and outgoing as well as understanding and a shoulder to cry on. When it comes to her friends, Mai is always there to help, always giving her advice and helping them out in any situation. Trainee History : Mai had been going to international school when she moved to Korea (She was 15 when she first came) and when she was out with her friends getting some bubble tea, she was spotted by an SM representative and was asked to do an audition. She was skeptical whether to go, but her mother urged her to go, which then she finally did. She auditioned when she was 17 to BoA Only One , but she did not sing but instead did her own interpretation of the dance.
As a trainee, she found it very hard to learn Korean as she wanted to remember to speak Japanese and not forget. She also found it very hard to socialize as there was some tension between her and some Korean trainees. But it did not stop her from making a few friends, Often she would be mistaken for being older by the dance instructors or the singing coach. Mai was actually meant to debut as an actress but the company didn't want to waste her dancing skills.
