onscreen, jaemin is a good boy. he's active enough in variety shows and interview sessions. he's quite talkative and likes to taking care of his bandmates. during performance, jaemin changed into a serious singer, he sing with his whole heart and always trying to give the best for his fans.

jaemin changed into a calm and shy boy backstage. he treats the seniors politely and doesn't like to wandering around too much. jaemin usually acted clingy to the other members so he won't caught between the seniors who often trapped him in difficult conversations.

jaemin is a motherly type boy. he is mature enough for his age. he likes to help others. many people often consider him as an umma figure because he's really caring and loving his friends and family. jaemin weak in front of cute things, more easily, kids. additionally, jaemin is a very good listener, expert in providing solutions and good at keeping people's secrets. jaemin is not easily provoked and mad, it makes a lot of people like to be around him. moreover, jaemin can cook very well. yet, jaemin is the person that is difficult to delegate responsibilities to others. he was afraid there would be some things changed from the original plan. as much as possible, jaemin always keep everything stays in place and take care of it by himself.

jaemin was born in gwangju, gyeonggi province, south korea on december 25, 1992. he was raised in a simple family consisting of father, mother, and himself. his father is a businessman who is prioritizing his family, while his mother is a housewife who is good at cooking, since his childhood times, jaemin already learned how to cook something delicious from his mother. when he was around 7, they moved to seoul because his father had investments there and wanted to be closer with his older brother. jaemin's parents decided to open a restaurant of their own. their restaurant became quite famous shortly thereafter. little jaemin had learned about the ways to continue his parents' bussiness since then, but one day when he met his cousin, he found his own dream. to become an idol.

jaemin practiced his vocal, dance and rap ability secretly from the videos he downloaded. actually he didn't let his parents know about it. but, when he was 15, somehow his mother knew about his secret. she persuaded jaemin to chase his dream, but jaemin refused it because he knew that to become an idol is pretty difficult. then unexpectedly, his mother enrolled jaemin's name in a singing contest. she forced jaemin to attend it and chase his own dream.
