How you got into BIDSEnt: One day when she was 10 years old in Paris, she was caught humming and writing a song during class in her private school. So, she got detention for the first time in her life, making her ashamed and sad and worried…so much that she couldn’t resist singing a sad ballad - ‘Story Only I Didn’t Know’ by IU – and got caught again by a different teacher who was her detention teacher. However, this time, she got lucky because her detention teacher was a representative of SM Entertainment. So Lee-Sae got to fly to Korea and audition in SM, instantly making it in for her beautiful voice and image. However, when a sunbae named Park Bom kept outshining her during training, since she was so gorgeous and her voice had strength, Lee-Sae got kicked out after 3 years. Shocked, Lee-Sae didn’t pursue her dream for 2 years straight, until she was 15. After much persuasion from her sister Jung Lee-Jin, though, she auditioned again for BIDS Entertainment. She was late, however, because she was running away from her piano concert to quickly audition. Seeing her pant and clutching some piano sheets in her hands, the judges questioned her. Once she explained, though, they saw that she would ‘bid’ what she was supposed to do and her other hobbies to audition and become a singer, and they were impressed. They were even more impressed to hear that she was an SM trainee for 3 years before. After finally hearing her talent, they loved her and instantly got her in~

Background: Well, besides the unfortunate SM story [and detention story], she has some more up in her sleeve. For instance, isolation. Being beautiful and Korean, Lee-Sae and Lee-Jin were both loners during their 9 year-stay in Paris. They were each others’ best friends, even if Lee-Jin was 7 years older. They sang and danced together in front of their parents, ballroom-danced in parties with guys that knew each other [since they knew each other], shopped together, gardened, and even shared the same bedroom despite their huge mansion. However, once Lee-Sae turned 10, and her sister became 17, her sister became courted for early engagement. Neither of them wanted it, but she had no choice. Therefore, her sister painstakingly left the family, losing all contacts and moving all the way to New York City. After that, Lee-Sae became very depressed, but also determined to be just like her sister – beautiful, helpful, inspiring, motivating, and friendly to everyone. And also smart, because her sister always had 4.5 GPA. Still, at times she would sing or hum sad songs to make up for her sister’s absence, which was how she got detention and later got recruited at 10 years old. 2 years later when her sister urged her to audition again, though, she truly felt determined once she realized that even if her sister wasn’t right next to her, she and other loved ones would always cheer her on. Miracles and surprises can happen, just like her sister contacting her again after so long…so then she auditioned and got in ^^

Family: Parents are married; sister was forced into marriage and got moved away to NYC.

Dad: Jung Minho: 40, is hard-working and sometimes absent from home for several days. But he only does that so that he can support his family and his 2 daughters’ special dreams. He supported them when they performed, studied, and also through his money. When his eldest daughter’s courtship came along, though, since the other side had the power to ruin their lives financially, he had no choice. Despite that, though, he always tries to make it up for his daughter by sending sweet gifts and occasionally visiting.

Mom: Lee Min-Jung: 37, is very loving, quiet, delicate, and petite. She mostly stays at home and thinks, listening to classical music. She supported her daughters through love and was the ultimate person to teach them everything they knew – morals, manners, style, singing, piano, and harp. She didn’t agree to the courtship of her first daughter, but she had no choice for it was for business and the sake of her family. Tries to keep everyone happy and only trusts her husband to heal her sadness.

However, during the times they went to separate schools, she was the ultimate heart-throb for many guys. She cut off contact with everyone because she didn’t want them to be sad for her, even if she wasn’t living a good life herself anymore. She’s very selfless and patient and enduring, and went out of her way to always look over Lee-Sae and her family back in Paris. No matter what, she always tries to be a good person…even if her husband is terrible [Yong Junhyung].
