this is what i really want to right now. and i think the author rank list should be taken away too because readers are kinda biased already, pushing away some good fics to who are a bit new to aff(but still superior in writing).. i hate the upvote part. it had made the authors greedy for too much popularity. subs and comments were already enough..
I also think the problem is us, actually~ I mean, these kind of 'popularity' contest or whatever happened on real world too -- it's kinda our nature to do and be obsessed to these things~
I think the solution is also simple. Don't like the featured stories? Don't like the advertised stories?
Then DON'T READ IT.
Some, I repeat, SOME of the featured stories are honestly terrible, but there're some that's good as well. Well, I rarely post stories since I like to write in private in my computer and just read almost everything, but I seriously avoid a lot of featured stories.
And the upvote thing. Well,If you don't like reading authors telling you to upvote when you're just searching some good stories to sit back and read, then IGNORE them. I think most people in this world is at least best at ignoring something small, so why don't do it at AFF?
I find it weird how all of you did not consider why Jason put these things in the first place.
The problem is us. Karma was invented to encourage people to talk to each other. Without advertisement, I would not have found decent stories (admit it, there are decent stories there.) We were the ones that made the mediocre stories popular. It was us.
No matter what Jason does, if we refuse to change (searching for the good instead of the bad), then everything he does will be futile. Appreciate what he has done for us, then change.
I really hated it when the upvote button was put up because as soon as that was put up, straight away the girl who had already a million featured stories was featured. What's worse when the featured stories aren't even stories. I mean yeah, they're cool but they should be separate if they're not even stories.
i'm fine with the rest but the upvote thingy thing is getting on my nerves now days..i mean,whenever i read some story,they would like -remember to upvote- or -press upvote-..it's annoying..
To be honest, I actually like the featured stuff. It always help me find good stuffs to read. The only thing that made me dislike it is when the upvote starts. I prefer it more in the old times where everything is fair and moderator finds stories. And I hate it when roleplays got featured. I can't read roleplays!
