I met an angel yesterday
I swear I came face to face with an angel yesterday. It's not my superstitions right now, it's for real. I know she was an angel.
Okay, so, I went on this long trip that I go to every three months to go to this children's hospital that's far away. I get my hips checked everytime to see if the shots I'm taking have made me better. So yes, I was at a hospital. Most of the kids there had birth defects or were seriously ill.
I was watching TV in the blindingly-colorful waiting room when I saw her. She was a little girl in a wheelchair that was obviously way too gigantic for her tiny body. She looked like she was one year old (American years), but she was speaking well, so I'm assuming she was closer to two. She had beautiful, big, chocolate eyes that stared curiously at the toys in the room. Her black hair was tied up high, and she was wearing a hospital nightgown. Her skin was a gorgeous deep brown just a few shades lighter than her eyes. She was absolutely perfect.
The white blanket that was on her lap fell down below the chair. The girl was saying "Mommy, blankie," but the woman didn't hear her. I jumped out of my seat and picked up the blanket, tucking it around her while saying "here, I'll get it for you." She looked up at me with her amazing eyes and told me "thank you." How many little girls do you know that have manners like that?
I went back to my seat, but as I was walking, I heard her say "Mommy, he got my blankie. Mommy... Mommy, my blankie fell, and... he got it for me." Her stuttering was so adorable, I was giggling by the time I sat back down. I continued to watch her every movement. Not in a creepy way! In a "she brings out my motherly(?) instincts and makes me wanna cuddle her" way.
Her mother eventually rolled her chair away, so I couldn't see her anymore. I was sad I didn't get the chance to talk to her more. I would've loved to know her name. I bet it was something really pretty. Either way, I'm certain she was an angel. Don't ask me why or how, I just know. You would've known if you were there too.
