How long should a One Shot be?

I tend to write one shots quite a lot; I guess it's because of my changing mood but yeah, it makes me feel better.

So I've written a one shot (Love like a Tidal Wave) but I haven't posted it because I don't know if it's long enough...

It's about 1,200 words so far, and that's how long I write each chapter.

Thought I was thinking, surely because it's a whole story in one chapter, it should be longer and have more detail...

I don't know...

And I've also found that some one shots I write, I turn into a full story. It works out well and I keep coming up with new ideas and keep it flowing... until my mind goes blank and I've ruined the story...

Oh man, I don't know what to do...?

I like looong one-shots. Like those lj one-shots that come in three parts and when you paste them onto a word doc they become like 50+ pages :D
