Personality: With her subtle semblance, she is usually thought to be serene and placid, the typical quiet girl who keeps to herself. Indubitably, looks can deceive. Sayuri is a girl who pretty much breaks any rule that she doesn't have an interest for. She actually finds amusement in being her rebellious self. At times, she can be a little too blunt and impulsive which can get her in trouble quite a bit. Fortunately, however, Sayuri does a fine job at talking herself out of things and is a persuasive person which really comes in handy when she's in certain predicaments. She's quite the intelligent student as well.

Sayuri likes to be a tease and lightly joke around, especially if it involves someone's love life. Of course, she does respect the privacy and dignity of others, so she wouldn't ever overdo it. She likes having fun and loves the feeling of adrenaline, so she tends to be pretty reckless and care free, almost fearless. She can be quite stubborn at times when needed, and she's not afraid to stand her ground even if you're a petty adult. On another hand, Sayuri is an independent type of person but definitely not to the point where she'll constantly isolate herself from others. Having company is a great thing.

Now and then, she can't help but feel that life is a burden only to have it crumbling at her feet, especially when she thinks of the situation she was in with her parents. She suffers from quite severe chronic depression. Sometimes, she just wants to let everything go and...leave. She can be a suicidal at these times, but never masochistic. This side of her is a secret that only she and her doctor knows. Despite this, she's one who refuses to cry in order to keep her strength. She hates receiving pity as well as giving it to others.

Background: Sayuri was born in the valuble and historical city of Kyoto, Japan to a pair of aspiring teachers. Her father was Japanese while her mother was Korean, but Sauyri always did seem more Japanese than she did Korean. For the first four years of her life, you could say she couldn't have asked for more. She had loving parents who always looked after her, made sure she wasn't gloomy or hungered. For those four years, she was raised extremely well. She picked up books and the shamisen instead of toys and was enlightened by them more than any doll or stuffed animal metaphorically thrown at her.

On the very day after her fourth birthday, she was in the car with her parents, going back home from their prior trip to Osaka where they had celebrated. An unexpected turn of events soon arrived. As the car was running on it's usual 45 mph, they began to slide on an icy road which existance was too sudden. Sayuri's father had been unable to stop the car from moving any forward, so the car continued to slide on the ice, speeding up, until the car hit a solid object on the road. The car began to flip over a couple of times before crashing into a tree on the side of the road. Both Sayuri's parents died on that day, but she miraculously survived the incident with almost no scratch. It was almost too amazing.

After the incident, she was taken to Tokyo to live in an orphanage since her grandparents on both sides had already passed, and no one was able to contact Sayuri's aunts and uncles. For the next eleven years, her life belonged to the orphanage where she had developed a siblinghood with three other boys there. They thought they were actually fated to be together forever since they never were adopted, and when the time came, the four of them were transferred together to an orphanage in South Korea. Their stay there was very short, however. They had been enrolled in the Kwon Hansung International Boarding Schools by the orphanage. They were practically dropped from foster care, but the orphanage would continue to give them funds and pay for their schooling until they graduated.

Likes:

  • Novels: Books have always been a close part of her life and have always been there to keep her from being bored. To her, any genre will suffice, but she really likes historical texts, non-fictions, and fictional books that are rather brutal and...violent.
  • History: It's her favourite and best subject in school. Even when she can, she brings it out of school and keeps a place for it in her actual life. It intrigues her, and she can't ever get enough of it.
  • Music: Being a musician as well, anyone would have to suppose she likes music. Usually, she sticks to piano and traditional Japanese music, but she also really likes rock and heavy metal.
  • Tea: It's Sayuri's favourite drink and practically the only thing she drinks besides water. The thing she likes about tea is that it usually seems to give off a very fragrant and pleasant scent, and it's distinguished taste removes her from all of her surroundings.
  • Hot Springs: They calm and relieve stress easily, making it easier to relax. Every visit makes you feel happy afterwards. Hot Springs are one of the things that Sayuri misses in Japan.
  • Rain + Snow: When she was little, she liked the sound of rain and the smell of it after it stopped raining. She sees a lot of snow around her birthday. In fact, she was born on a snow day. She likes to think of it as a little present for herself.
  • Nighttime + Early Mornings: Nighttimes are a time for sleeping...and a time for escaping and exploring. She likes early mornings mainly because of watching the sunrise.
  • High-rise Places: Rooftops have seemed to be her second home in a way. When watching the sunset and the sunrise, she's usually propped up on the roof, looking at the sky. If there's rooftop access in a building, she'll definitely make a beeline over there.
  • Video Games: These are literally the only things that will get her yelling at a TV or computer screen, and she likes having half-hearted rivalries and competition with others.
  • J-Rock: Besides traditional Japanese music, she is also very fond of J-Rock.
  • Cats: ...They're cute. ok.

Dislikes:

  • Kimchi: It's too sour tasting and it stinks in her opinion. She really hates it.
  • Smoking: Sayuri does not understand how lighting up a stick composed of butane, acetic acid, methane, arsenic, cadmium, stearic acid, hexamine, carbon monoxide, methanol, toluene, nicotine, ammonia, and paint could be fun and relaxing.
  • Sweets + Candies: She's unsure why she hates sweets. The only thing she can actually consume and enjoy is mochi, or the Korean chapssalddeok.
  • Crying: She dislikes it especially if she's the one crying. She doesn't want to be pitied upon nor does she want to give pity. She's done it way too much as a kid.
  • Being Sick: Out of all things, being sick is the number one thing that makes her feel worse. Illness only gets in her way of trying to survive in this cruel world.
  • K-Pop: Stupid and annoying. She simply doesn't like it.
  • Coffee: She just hates it with a passion. Nothing or no one could possibly make her like it.

Hobbies:

  • Reading + Writing
  • Calligraphy
  • Historical Studies
  • Playing Video Games
  • Playing Piano + Shamisen....-cough-....-sneeze-

Habits:

  • She has a habit of staring off into space.
  • When she sleeps, she sleep talks but only in Japanese.
  • She fiddles around with her fingers when nervous and/or anxious.
  • She has a tendency to mumble in Japanese.

Fears:

  • She's afraid of losing the people that she loves and cares about.
  • She has a strong fear of spiders (spawns of the devil to her).

Trivia:

  • Her blood type is AB Negative.
  • She owns a book called "The Complete Manual of Suicide" written by Wataru Tsurumi that she keeps hidden in a box under her bed, but she has no plans to use the methods in it...yet.
  • Her favourite book is "Battle Royale" written by Koushun Takami.
  • She owns two cats; a black one named Kuro-tan and a tiger-like one named Tora-Kun. -picture-
  • Sometimes, she likes to sneak out at late night to take walks.  Usually, on these little walks, she would pass by the old Catholic church to visit.
  • She's really good at forging signatures.
  • She is ambidextrous.
  • She's Catholic; was born and raised by Catholic parents, baptised when she was a baby and confirmed in the 8th grade, but isn't exactly the "strongest" Catholic out there because of her situation.
  • Her favourite feeling is the one she gets when she's on a roof; the light breezes through her hair, the many different sights in her view as if she was on top of the world.

Favorite thing to do at a slumber party: She doesn't really like attending slumber parties, but she really likes playing video games in them if it's an option. However, she is always the first one to go to sleep and wake up.

Opinion on supernatural creatures: Spirits are real. She knows she can feel her parents' presence around her sometimes. As for vampires and such, no. They don't exist in her world.

Does "love at first sight" exist?: Definitely not, there is no such thing as "love at first sight". How can someone possibly just fall so easily in love with someone you've only seen.

If you had to break one of the school rules, what would it be and why?: (I can have more than one...right? ._.)

  • Rule #1: She has some "siblings" from her orphanage who, just like her, were transferred to Korea and registered in this school. These "siblings" just happen to be male.
  • Rule #8: Usually, she doesn't care about rules like this. If the staff is composed of ill-minded people, there's no way you could expect her to give respect to them.
  • Rule #12: She has two cats that she loves very much and doesn't plan on leaving them behind.
  • Rule #14: She sneaks out of the campus at night a lot...Plus, she can't exactly get parental approval.

Dream Job: Historian, History teacher...or Shamisen teacher. She hasn't really decided on it.

How many kids do you want in the future?: Unsure since she's rather young to think of such things, though she would like to have a boy.

Mode of transportation to and from school: She goes by motorcycle or rides with one of her brothers.

Top three ways to die (one must be violent):

  • Angel Dust: It's a sort of drug that make people feel dazed after taking it, and you could jump off a high-rise building without feeling a thing. She actually keeps a small bottle of it on a necklace. (Method from the suicide manual)
  • "Knife Thrower's Act": The victim gets strapped to a pole blindfolded while being tortured with a knife as it slowly cuts into the skin for an excruciatingly long period of time. Then, the torture proceeds as knives are thrown at the victim's limbs one achingly sharp knife after the other. Eventually, the victim will die from blood loss...It's a different approach on murder. (;-; I'm trying to be creative. I don't know if it's working.)
  • Poison: Self-explanatory. A more desirable way to die from poisoning for Sayuri is to eat fugu livers.

Least favorite cafeteria food(s):

  • Salad: It's extremely sad what they call 'salad'. The lettuce looks like it was previously frozen.
  • Pizza: The pizza is rather greasy if you ask Sayuri and there are literally pools of grease on it, but it's actually pretty decent if you use a napkin to lightly blot the excess grease.
  • Kimchi Fried Rice: It's the kimchi that bothers her. She doesn't like it.

Best school subject: History

Family before all »

Father:
Yoshida Masato | 27 (Age of Death) / 39 | Former Shamisen Instructor at Ritsumeikan University | Masato was a very honest man who was quite comical and just always seemed to bring the mood up. He wasn't the type to be afraid to stand up for what he believed in and he was an extremely hard worker. Kind, caring, and motivational, he was a great husband, father, and teacher. | When he was alive, Sayuri and him were very close with each other. She really was Daddy's little girl. Masato was the one who introduced her to the shamisen, and when she plays it, she thinks of her short memories of him. | Deceased, died in a car accident

Mother:
Nam Seulmi | 27 (Age of Death) / 39 | Former High School History Instructor | Seulmi was a rather straightforward type of person. The air around her seemed to be very serene, calm, and quiet. She was a generally happy woman and gentle in every way, never coarse and harsh. She has always had this motherly instinct even when she was little. | Sayuri's name was chosen by Seulmi. Seulmi always did give Sayuri a lot of books in the place of toys when she was little. The two really loved each other and were also very close. After she died, Sayuri could still hear her mother's voice sing her to sleep. | Deceased, died in a car accident

Siblings:

Higashiyama Kazuki | 18 | Student | Older Brother | OC | Kazuki is quite protective over the things and people that he loves. He's very mature and logical and seems to be quite tense the majority of the time. If he wants, he can be very persistent over one's well being. This is due to his nature as being the oldest at his former orphanage. | Although they aren't actual siblings, they sure seem like it. At times, Kazuki and Sayuri can have some father-daughter moments since he's the oldest of the four. He's always trying to check in on her when he can...and tries to get rid of any guy interested in her. | Alive

Takeda Hiroki | 17 | Student | Older Brother | OC | Hiroki is just a very chill guy who goes along with the flow, so people are easily comfortable around him. Being the dancer he is, he shows off a lot of confidence as well. He's makes for a good friend or brother. If you need a favour or help, he'll do it; no questions asked...unless if it's a rather odd request. | They push aside the fact that they aren't blood-related and embrace it. The two are close and always share food with each other, and unlike Kazuki, Hiroki just lets Sayuri do what she wants making sure Kazuki doesn't try to get in the way. | Alive

Watanabe Teru | 17 | Student | Older Brother | OC | Teru is a rowdy, but good-natured kid and the room just loosens up when he's in it. He's a wild spirit and loves to have fun. 'Boring' doesn't exist in his world. Teru can even make times of study...enjoyable. Surprisingly, he's always polite as can be to the adults and his elders. | He's the youngest of the boys and the closest to Sayuri. The two of them tend to use a lot of skinship, and they're barely ever awkward with each other, so they could literally go through any topic of conversation. (He wouldn't mind buying...items for an unwanted visit...for her, either XD) He also plays guitar, and he always practices in front of her. | Alive

Love is a silly thing »

Love Interest: Oh Sehun

Age + Birthdate: 18 || 4.12.1994

Personality: Sehun's handsome appearance makes him seem quite mysterious, stoic, and even unfriendly, but his personality is much far from that. Sehun is usually a lively and fairly sociable type of guy who is open to meeting new people. He is a person who loves action and adventure and takes advantage of any opportunites he may get. Rebellious, he really has no interest whatsoever in playing by the big book of rules. Rules are meant to be broken eventually. Sehun has a strong mentality which is helpful when winging broken plans or trying to escape from some situations.

He can be consoling and caring as well as suave, but he can also be quite agressive and short-tempered when necessary. At times, he can be hasty and try to make quick decisions, which sometimes ends in good results but usually ends up making him experience regret. Being like "most other guys", he is a bit awkward and has trouble when it comes to expressing his feelings, so it generally reverts to making erted comments.

How you met/meet: The way that they meet isn't the best way that they could have, but it isn't exactly the worst meeting, either. After sneaking into the boy's wing to hang around with her brothers, she noticed a magazine sitting in front of some other student's door. Out of curiosity, she picked it up and noticed a sticky note stuck to the front that said, "Sorry I couldn't return this to you personally. Try not to get caught! -insert some dude's name here" This was enough to make her flip through the pages...Then, she realized the magazine was a magazine. Without a moment of thought, she knocked on the door in front of her, despite the fact that she could get caught.

When the boy opened the door, she continued to flip through the magazine with a straight face while saying, "This was in front of your door, you know. Tell your friend to be careful next time. You can't afford to get caught." Then, he pulled her into his room, taking the magazine, and almost begged her not to tell the staff when he also realized that she wasn't supposed to be there in the boy's dorm. Explanations were heard, introductions were given, and they agreed to help each other; she wouldn't tell anyone about his magazine and he would help her sneak out of there by dressing her up as a boy.

What rules would he break?:

  • Male Specifics Rule #1/Rule #3: He hates the thought of not being able to roll his sleeves up, keep some of the buttons ed, and alter his uniform. Those things get stuffy and stiff, you know.
  • Male Specifics Rule #2: He's a boy. ok...and he only has a couple magazines. Nothing too bad. (XD)
  • Rule #8: You can't possibly force someone to respect someone that they don't like.
  • Rule #10: Have you seen this boy's hair? It's been through some serious with all of the colours; brown, blonde, grey, pink, and even green. Sure, he prefers his original brown hair best, but no rule can stop him from adding the most unusual colour in his hair.

Back-up Love Interest: Byun Baekhyun

Age: 20 || 5.6.1992

Personality: Baekhyun is a kind, warm type of person who almost always seems to have a bright smile on their face. He can be very easy going and a little care free but always knows when to be serious. He's sociable and can get along with others quite easily as well as keep a conversation going without making it seem too awkward even when he has just met the latter. He doesn't like to "rock the boat" too much despite the fact that he knows that you can't please everyone and is very patient and doesn't like to rush people or force them into things.

Trustworthy and honest, he's good at keeping secrets and giving advice to others. Baekhyun is also understanding and can be sensitive but not too sensitive.

How you met/meet: He is one of the few dorm managers of the boy's dorm. Whilst trying to sneak in, Sayuri got caught by him making her a little worried about the situation. However, he only said, "Go ahead, I won't tell anyone. Try not to get caught next time." A short nod of thanks was given by Sayuri as she ran off. When she was to come back to her own dorm, she noticed that he was still there, standing against the wall while looking at his phone. She cleared and that's when he looked up.

She thanked him properly and bowed. He could only laugh and he replied, "It's my pleasure. I guess it's alright to be caught by me. The name's Baekhyun." Then, the latter introduced herself as Sayuri before they bid goodbyes and parted ways.

What rules would he break?:

  • Rule #2: He couldn't be able to help it. It's not his fault that he would want to hug a friend that happens to be a girl.

That’s a nice story »

Scene Requests:

  • [#1]: If she dies, I want her whole entire life to flash before her eyes. The tears she's never wanted to release will escape from her eyes while she manages a smile, and her last words will be, "This was a hell of a ride."
  • [#2]: A scene where things get kind of heated up between her and her dear love interest would be great. XD Like some sort of make out session, but nothing more ;-; Because..no.
  • [#3]: A short scene of her sitting on the edge of the roof alone, staring off with her feet dangling would be lovely. =w=

Comments: Mwahaha~ I'm done! ...Oh, and hello, Min XD You applied to my story, so I'm applying to yours! ..Actually, it's partially yours but whatever. ;-; *cough* Anyway, I'm genuinely excited for this...and I kind of half-assed this application. ok. sorreh. X3 If anything sounds stupid or confusing, tell me because not telling me would make me feel even more like an idiot. ;P Plus, half-assing and trying to be creative doesn't work out so well XD

Questions: I have none \o.o/
