If you have time, please read AFF's FAQ section

Please. Just read. Especially that section on PLAGIARISM. It is even defined there.

It is funny how these users put disclaimers, which convict them of their crime: The story is not mine. I merely changed the characters' names. So please don't read the original.

Then they tell everyone that they are not plagiarizing since they credited the original author or mangaka. OTL.

What does FAQ say about plagiarism?

Please note that providing disclaimers that it isn't yours or changing minor wordings does not exempt you from copyright unless you have the express written permission of the copyright holder. Citations are considered citations if enclosed in quotes with the proper author attribution. Citations are not citations if the entire story is copied (even with an author attribution). Copying another story word-for-word is considered plagiarism.

They didn't write a fanfic of that manga or novel. They copied the plot, the words and merely changed the characters' names. We don't have the right to do any of these.

If you really like that manga, anime or novel, you can write a side story or back story of a character(s), put a twist in one episode of the anime or chapter in the manga usually answering the question, "What will happen if...?", or simply, place the characters in another universe. But you still have to cite which mangaka or novelist these characters belong to.

And since we are here in AFF, readers would want to read stories featuring kpop artists. Changing the character's name into that of the kpop artist is not the way to go, as clearly stated above. Claiming that a story is inspired by this manga/anime/novel means that the story does not have the same storyline as the inspiration. The writer didn't just copy the plot. Rather, the fanfic writer took an idea from the inspiration and added his/her own personal touch to it such that her fanfic is different from the inspiration. The readers shouldn't be able to say, "This is like the movie I watched years ago." even though you cited the inspiration :)

Personally, I prefer you leave mangas, animes and other published material alone.

Create your own story.

/gah, I submitted tickets again

/you see there are three types of plagiarizers here: those who copy fanfics, those who copy published content without citing references and those who make fanfic versions of published material by copying the whole plot (citation included).

/and I have several AFF examples of each in my bingo book :)

/if a user is banned or a story is removed, and you see that message about violating terms and conditions, it is highly likely she plagiarized or created multiple fake accounts to subscribe and upvote her story. I could be wrong, user could be rude to others as well.

/mods are forgiving. They unban your account once you take down the story.

/still tempted to publish my bingo book lol

/off to sleep

I once wrote a pretty common plot (gender bender) but made my own story using that idea. I avoid reading/watching stories with gender bender plot to avoid being inspired by other stories and copying the plot unintentionally. But still, even though I know I don't copy other stories, it still discouraged me when I read one comment saying that my story was similar with this one drama.
If I feel that way, Idk how those plagiarizers feel about their fics and getting praises for stories which aren't their own. smh.

Keep those tickets sent! xD The mods must be pretty busy thanks to you (and those cheaters. OTL)

And yeah, Nichi and the mods are nice. :)
