She has a Taiwanese and Italian mother and a Korean father.They divorced before she was born but he was still in her life.When she was 7 her parents got back together and moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada(Where her mom's side of the family was from) and she lived there until she was 17 and they moved to Naju, South Korea in which where she learned Korean.
When she was 18 her grandmother died which brought her into a deep depression because she was her closest grandaughter.Her grandmother had a dream of becoming a singer but it never happened so that motivated her to be one.

She became a Trainee when she was 19.Her brother lived in Seoul at the time so she moved in with him.She became a trainee when she auditioned for Sue. Her korean wasn't very good at the time so she sang her favorite Japanese Song 'ShinJitsu No Uta' she wasn't very confident about it so she thought she had failed her grandmothers dream and then she got a call 2 weeks later saying she got accepted.She was pretty much friends with everyone but she tried to keep to herself because she didn't want to be in the middle of some drama.
