This Really Happened To Me Right?

There was never a more appropriate time to use the phrase 'begin at the beginning'.

The story starts off earlier this year. Everyone knows I write Kpop fanfiction. Exactly two months ago in January, I was writing a story called Secrets Of Eden. It was a retelling of the classic Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and it starred Chen, Baekhyun and Chanyeol from EXO. If anyone has been reading my work then they can tell that I write for EXO a lot. Like A LOT.

Then one day I got a message from a reader. Let's call her FL. It's short for her username on that site. She told me that she was not an EXO fan, but she had read and liked SoE. I'll do one better. I'll just give you a copy of the message she sent.

"I read your story "Secrets of Eden" and it immediately caught my attention so I started reading it.. I'm really no fan of exo especially m but the way you portrayed the characters really changed my perspective of them.. The story was well-written and all I could think of was that it was amazing.. The way it made me continue reading on and on until the last chapter released and how it didn't have a turn off was just remarkable..

You being the author, gains all the credit of being respected and revered.. You have impressive writing skills indeed, I must say.. My decision in subscribing surely won't be in vain..I do hope you'd give updates soon cause I really can't wait till the next chapter's on, I'll be looking forward to it author ."

I'll spare you guys my modest-modest but secretly ever so thrilled reaction. I had a reader who genuinely liked my writing. Could it get any better? I had converted a non EXO fan to a fan. It was a MAMMOTH achievment. (Trust me. This fandom has gone cray. We don't attract new fans easily). But this didn't stop there.

Somewhere in the middle of February, I received another message from her.

"Hey.. um,

My class is having a stage play and I kind of want to show off your work by enacting your storyline.. Of course we'd give credits to you as the writer of the story and all, I just want to have your permission to do so..

By the time you read this I hope you'd give your reply, whatever it is I would comply.

:) I hope you'd allow us :)"

Do you know what this means? Can any of you even guess? I was just shocked. Yeah just shocked. Was my writing really that influential? Was the story so effective that she was thought about this story for her school play? No one ever gives so much consideration to a story on AFF! Even Livejournal. At the max, someone would just write a comment praising me. The story would remain all but forgotten.

Ah... I am really crying now. Still too overwhelmed looking at these old messages.

This message came around a time when the story was only half done. So the next few days were spent uploading the chapters and discussing possible alterations. I remember having numerous discussions on the original and how to modify the ending of SoE to make it more school friendly. Trust me the ending had a major twist to it. Moreover crimes of passion are not exactly school friendly. But in the end FL was determined to keep the original storyline as it was and the work on the school play began.

So basically by February 11th, I already knew of this. But a better part of me advised me from telling it to anyone else. Remember all those statuses about me being very happy but unable to tell the reason for it? It was the play. ^_^

(I doubt you'll remember it over the angry bird statuses I posted about my physics lab assistants -.-")

I was so nervous about the play and how it would be received. You can understand my anxiety right? So my days were spent in the dark, breathing in and breathing out and wondering what it was like. She would give me regular updates about how things were turning out. And then finally this afternoon I got this message.

"GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS: The play was done a while ago, you wouldn't believe what happened like OH MY GOSH, hahahha - we were nervous like crazy!! Most of the part was just me, being the director for the whole thing, you'd understand..

GOOD NEWS: GOSH!! The best part ever we got a perfect score!! hahahaha, gosh, i was shocked myself but - hey, when i've got someone so talented like you to write the story for us we're sure to win, right? hahaha..

By the time i get to send you a pic or two, a video hopefully, I hope you'd be glad - we did our very best for it, and of course we gave it our all :D"

The amount I squealed (i have started doing that a lot

Was this what my writing can really achieve? It was just a silly fanfiction. Did I really deserve this honour? Oh my god... I still can't think. This is too much really.

So I think I am going to go get ice cream from somewhere and curl up in my bed and just enjoy life as it is for a while. God knows the coming few days will be hectic for me (College work >///

I don't really think I deserve all of this. I mean... all this just happened to me right? Me? The girl who keeps her book in her story notebook all day and probably doesn't even have many readers for her writing? I think I need to confirm it with FL again! >_

Btw... Here is the story's link. Feel free to check it out.
