Mindjunk

Just thought of something I wanted to share yet I didn't have the time, so I'll just write here.

So last time I watched this movie called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the movie was released around 2008 and based on a novel by John Boyne (the novel itself was written two years before the movie was released). It's a historical-drama type, although this is the first time I watched a movie with this type of genre but yeah.. I blame my curiosity. I didn't manage to find the DVD/CD, so I downloaded the movie from the Internet via torrent.

The movie itself takes place during the Holocaust era, it's about a boy named Bruno whose father works as an SS Commander. When Bruno and his family moved to a new home, Bruno felt sad because he had to leave his friends until one day when he was exploring outisde his house. He found a building which he thought was a barn, and there was a little boy wearing striped pajamas behind the metal fence which separates the building and Bruno. The boy's name was Shmuel (honestly I have no idea how to pronounce his name, I find it confusing to do so O_O), and then Bruno starts being friends with him. At first his mom didn't like the idea when he talks about this so-called barn (it's actually one of those concentration camps where the Jews stayed) and she doesn't allow him to go near that place ever again. However, Bruno keeps visiting Shmuel even he shares his food with him. They became closer, but sadly they had to separate. Bruno didn't want that so he asked Shmuel to lend him a set of the striped pajamas like the one he wore, Bruno snuck in the camp with Shmuel. Little did they know that they were forced to enter a gas chamber with the other prisoners and in the end they died together. Bruno's parents were looking for him and when they found Bruno's clothes outside the camp they realized that he's already dead.

When I first watched this movie, it made me cry because i couldn't imagine what it feels to be like them. Overall, I love the storyline because it's pretty heartfelt and it contains a pretty strong message about friendship. I really recommend this movie!^^

P.S : Has anyone read the novel yet?
