Silent readers. .__.

I don't know if it's just me or does other writers here feel the same way.

Everytime I finish a story.. the numebr of views flies up quite a lot but then.. the comments don't. It's not that I'm obsessed with comments or anything.. but a simple.. how you think about my story wold be sufficient I believe? Sometimes I write a whole story and I don't even know if I should publish it.. why? Because I don't even know what other people actually think about the way I write and all.

Dear silent readers, just one question.. would you like it when people read your story and don't even comment.. and at the end of the day you don't even know how other people view your stories? It's like I'm writing something.. and people either ignore me or just don't give a damn. I'm not angry or anything.. I'm just voicing my rants. Because I can't really understand.. why people just don't bother to comment a little.. it even gives you karma points.. if you comment. LOL.

Well, just a rant. Feel free to read or not read it. It's fine with me. ;)

Well, the same thing happens to my new story too. The subscribers and views go up, but the comments not. That hurts tho :'/

I agree. Comments help writers appreciate their own work, or at least improve on anything that was pointed out. Even a simple, "that was good" is fine, I dunno why silent readers don't like leaving anything once they're done.

I also blogged about it before but meh~ I just won't let them get to me anymore. A 24 hr strike is enough when i cant understand how the commet to subbie ratio dropped to around 1: 40 and one is a friend who regularly comments lol I didnt care when i started here in aff so i can always do just that haha. I'll just continue updating and commenting. I mean, how can i expect them to comment when I dont do it as well?

What's worse is that there's actually quite a few subscribers but as the story goes on, the number of comments start diminishing at every chapter update ><

Definitely not alone, I think all writers think the same too. For example, I have a fic with 140+ subscribers, but every time I update, only 10 will comment. I am always wondering what happened to the remaining 130? Did they like, spazzed too much reading the chapter and died or what? (LOL)

I write for my enjoyment, but comments are what keeps me going, ngl. At least I'd know what my readers think of what I wrote, and it definitely gives me the motivation to continue writing/updating. Alas, not many readers know the feelings of authors, hence they don't comment. That is why if I'm subscribed to a fic, I'll give comments on every updates so to motivate the author, and to ensure she/he keeps writing as that is the least I can do. :)

I just wished the silent readers would understand our feelings /sighs

Well, I write because I love it and I kinda agree with you on this. A little comment wouldn't hurt, right? On my part, I always comment on stories that I love :)
