on another note...

Let's talk about something that bugs the heck out of me—bad Korean dramas.

Yes, yes, it is drama and apparently everyone is exempted because it's just fiction. Heck no. You're gonna take responsibility for being a horrible person, okay?

Let's start about how many cross dressing cliché there are.

The most recent one I'm aware of is To the Beautiful You. I've watched it before, gave it three episodes then completely flipped the table. Maybe it's just me, but Sulli wasn't such a great actor (didn't even pull off the boy look tbh.) She has a really feminine face, and even with the short hair, she wouldn't even be able to be compared with Taemin (before he hit puberty recently) and that's saying something since Taemin is fairly feminine. I don’t get why they picked her (instead of Amber who already has the boy image) or someone fairly experienced at acting (wasn’t Krystal a child model/actress or something?). So, first thing first is that she’s a terrible actress, I didn’t feel any emotions and the scenes were sometimes so awkward, I felt awkward just watching it. And that’s probably the only emotion I felt throughout the three episodes I’ve watched. But you’re going to say I’m bashing and I don’t understand anything if I only watched three episodes, I should have given it a chance.

That was me giving a chance. If a drama doesn’t grab be straight away, it’s not a good drama. Yes, sometimes it takes a while to build things up, build characters up (I’m a writer, I know this) but the characters were so done. They’ve all been done before, they’re all so unoriginal and it’s not good. It’s the typical jock and the girl who wants to impress him. He seems cold hearted and doesn’t care for anybody before she came, but oh shocker! he changes for her. Who saw this coming? *Raises hand*. I did. And I was not impressed.

Overusing the cross dressing plot and overusing established character traits is so annoying. And I hate how “adorably innocent” she was. Her reason for coming may have been a bit original, but honestly, it’s still chasing after a guy if you water it down enough, and I did.

Overall, this drama was completely unoriginal and how is she magically friends with good looking people? And magically good at sports? (and the very beginning scene. "But I have to." and the white chick who looked like she didn't want to be there because Minho wasn't on set.) /criesbecausecliché

Coffee Prince and You’re Beautiful also fit under the cliché cross dressing genre.

Go Mi Nam is so girly it hurts to say “he” was a guy. It hurts. And the twin brother excuse. My organs hurt.

The acting was good, though, because unlike To the Beautiful You, these dramas weren’t a SM hodgepodge mess.

And that has been an installment of whyamidoingthiswhenicouldbereading?

Side note, any of you who think I’m attacking Sulli has not watched a single second of To the Beautiful You. I don’t dislike her or whatever childish thing you accuse me of because apparently fans can’t take it when their idols are “insulted” in any way. It wasn’t terrible, like some of the plays I’ve been to in real life, but it’s not good or even decent, to be honest.

I'm bored. Can you tell? I just dislike the cross dressing cliche because it's so unrealistic and it feels like it's pulled straight out of a cliché AFF fanfiction.
