LEGEND OF 2PM ORICON INTERVIEW

Photo: [TRANS] LEGEND OF 2PM ORICON INTERVIEW Q: This album contains 4 previously released singles and as many as 9 new songs. You probably like all the songs, but if you were to pick one that you like the most? Wooyoung: For me that’s I’ll be OK, because the lyrics are very good. It’s not a song about a general sweet love story or a sad broken-hearted romance. It’s a song about a positive break-up, when you choose to break up with the person you love, so that she could follow her dream. I think the song would become even more hopeful if we could sing it together with the fans during a concert… So it’s a song I look forward to. Q: If you got caught in the same situation, what would you do? Wooyoung: I would do the same as well, because working hard for your dream is something admirable. It might be sad breaking up, but it is possible to hold back the momentary pain thinking about each other’s future. Taecyeon: Just like Wooyoung, I like I’ll be OK the most as well. The lyrics that allow you to feel beauty through sadness are good, but… somehow, when you sing it, the feelings get complicated. (laughs) Because after all, you get immersed into the song when you sing it… I got the impression that the fans intend to let go of us in order for 2PM to grow even further (laughs). The truth is that I want to keep on going along with the fans forever. So regarding that part of the lyrics I got a feeling that the situation is the opposite. Q: That is definitely so. Taecyeon: We’re still in the middle of following our dreams, and we’re going to keep on charging forwards, but our dear fans, please do not break up with us for the sake of our dream! You have to stay with 2PM until the end! (laughs) Q: The fans are the ones who understand 2PM working towards their goals the best. Taecyeon: Fans, please scold us the most from time to time! Wooyoung: They really give us strength all of the time. Q: Then, Chansung, which song do you like the most? Chansung: I would recommend Forever. This song also has good lyrics, and I especially like the atmosphere evoked by Wooyoung in the introduction. Wooyoung: Thank you (embarrassed laugh). Chansung: We sing this song during our tour as well; I like it, because it’s a song that carries a dream with a sense of eternity. Junho: Oh dear, it should be me saying thank you for singing it. Q: Then what about Nichkhun? Nichkhun: I like This is Love, because this song was also written by Junho (laugh). I like it because it has a nice melody and an overall cheerful atmosphere. Q: Speaking of which, when Junho writes a song, what is the usual situation you end up writing a song in? Do you have a fixed setting of some sort? Junho: There’s no special fixed setting, if suddenly a melody comes to mind, I record it and then complete it later on. There are also times when I sit down to play a piano and write a song with a conscious determination of “let’s write a song!”. Q: When you complete it, do you give it for the other members to listen to right away? Junho: Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. It depends, because everyone is busy. Nichkhun: I can hear the songs, because my room’s right next to Junho’s (laugh). And I think “Ah, so he wrote a new song!”. Q: Then you hear the whole process as well, right? “Ah, he’s doing pretty well”, or “Hmm, now he’s got stuck” kind of feeling? Nichkhun: Yes, I can tell that (laugh). Junho: Ah, this is embarrassing. Jun. K: I’m writing songs as well, but it is definitely embarrassing to give a complete song to listen to the members. It is so, because I imagine the members singing it while writing a song, and that alone makes me feel great and excited. Q: So you use imagination. Do you also imagine the fans reaction to the song and a concert environment? Junho: Of course. I do it thinking about how the fans will listen to it, in what way our message will get across… There are a lot of songs written while thinking about the fans. We express things in songs when we cannot meet our fans often, or when we cannot relay our thoughts directly even if we want to. Q: Each song seems to be an important tool that binds 2PM and the fans together. Junho: Yes, this album includes many songs for the fans as well. Q: If we talk about songs written for the fans, there’s Jun. K’s Hanarete itemo. In this album the live version of this song is included as a bonus. Jun. K: It’s a song that contains really special feelings. When we sang it during our concerts, the fans held up pink light-sticks. I really wanted to cry seeing the scene, because it made me feel the deep affection and warmth of the fans. I’m really very thankful. Q: Then, Jun. K, which song would you recommend? Jun. K: I like Breakthrough. It’s a very energetic song, and I think it allows us to showcase 2PM’s strong passion. Junho: I like So bad. The lyrics are somewhat sad, but there’s a good opposition to it because of loveable dance. I also like the part of the song that allows us to feel a sense of unity with the fans during a concert. Q: Junho’s birthday coincided with a concert in Nagoya. We were told the venue was filled with yellow pen-lights for Junho. Junho: I was really touched and happy to receive such a great present from the fans. Naturally, I felt moved just by standing on stage together with the members, but seeing the fans congratulate me was definitely overwhelming. It’s not that easy for 10 000 people to congratulate one person in one place, so the fans becoming one on that day is a memory that I will not be able to forget. Q: Do you congratulate each other on your birthdays as well? Jun. K: If we’re not separated because of work, we do celebrate birthdays together. Chansung: Even if we’re on the move. Nichkhun: Or on a plane (laugh). Everyone: Ah~! Wooyoungie’s! Wooyoung: We were flying to the United States then, and my birthday came during the long flight… I thought that everyone was going to be resting, because we were on a plane, but they threw a surprise party. I couldn’t even imagine it, so I was deeply moved. Q: Weren’t you reprimanded by the crew members or other passengers? Wooyoung: Of course, we were told to keep it quiet (laugh). But it’s really rare to have a birthday celebration up in the sky, so that day became an unforgettably thrilling birthday for me (laugh). Q: You’re set to perform at Tokyo Dome for 2 days in April. Chansung: There are so many things we’d like to do. We’re in the middle of planning right now; everyone’s seriously concerned about it. Taecyeon: We’re going to have a concert at Tokyo Dome, that’s been our great objective, so we want to show the present 2PM to everyone who will come. Everyone: Please look forward to it! Q: However, if you take a look at Forever’s lyrics, there’s a line “get away from busy routine”. What would you like to do if you were given some free time? Taecyeon: For how long? Q: One day? Nichkhun: I’d sleep for an entire day. Everyone: Me too. Junho: One day is no good (laugh). It should be a week at least! Q: Then one week. Junho: I’d like to go to Okinawa. I would go swimming in the sea or simply enjoy a laid-back relaxation and eat tasty Okinawa noodles. Taecyeon: I want to go to Egypt. Chansung: It’s so far, it would be hard. Taecyeon: Last year I travelled in Italy for a week, engaged in new experiences, found out new things. I want to see a lot of historic remains. Jun. K: I’d like to say that I want to go to Switzerland, but… since it’s only a week; I’d like to go back home and spend time with my family. Chansung: I would just do what I want exactly that moment, go wherever I feel like it, wherever my body takes me to. For example, exercising, reading or simply playing a game… Or if I feel like taking a walk, I would go outside and do so. I would do that, because it’s only a week and it would be really stressful to plan out a lot of things and follow the schedule closely. Therefore, in order to avoid stress, I think I would spend my week in a very ordinary way. Wooyoung: I’d have fun with my friends for a week. I would meet friends from primary school and junior high that I haven’t seen for a long while. I’d like to have meals with them, find out how they are doing, listen to their stories and tell mine. Nichkhun: I’d like to go to Phuket! Q: It seems that you all want to go to a warm place. Nichkhun: I’d go to my homeland, because Korea is terribly cold at the moment. But of course, the warmth during our concerts accumulates so much it gets really hot. Chansung: Sweating from the start to the end… Q: Then, finally, a question based on y Lady. Let us know of a female action that you consider y. Jun. K: Can I be the first to say it? Q: Yes, let’s start with Jun. K. Jun. K: It’s beautiful, when a woman sweeps her long hair up with her hand, exposing her ear and nape… is what Taecyeon would say. Taecyeon: Hey, I didn’t say a thing (laugh). Nichkhun: I also like the moment when a woman raises her hair up. Chansung: I think it would be y if a woman would suddenly start tying up her hair in such a place as café. Wooyoung: I’d like to see a woman drying up her wet hair with a towel like this (shows motion with his hand) when she’s out of the shower. Everyone: Nooo way, Wooyoung!!!! (roars with laughter) Wooyoung: (surprised and frantic to explain) No, no, it’s a scene that you often see in movies, all I’m saying that for once I’d like to see it in reality. Taecyeon: Initially I preferred cute women who sometimes act charming, because I liked cute style, but lately I’m attracted to mature women with cool atmosphere around them. Junho: As for me… there’s nothing that would stand out (laugh). Q: Pardon me? Junho: Just joking (laugh). I like it when you look into the eyes of the other person (laugh). Jun. K: Ah, winking is also y. Junho: When you come to our concert, look very hard at me. Q: Your heart must be beating wild each time that happens (laugh). Junho: I want it to run as fast as it can (laugh). Let’s get excited during live performance together! —————————————————————— Credits Note: Source: ORICON JPN - KOR: 왓탐번역노예즈 KOR - ENG: Egle @2PMalways MAY BE TAKEN OUT WITH PROPER CREDITS!
