Nu'est 2nd mini album - Hello

I've never done a music review before, so cut me some slack okay? I have communication problems. And forgive me if I get the genres wrong or completely ignore them--- I don't know have a musical background or know a lot about music.

I'm kind of disappointed that there is no powerful song like Face or Action, but then I'm still really pleased with the change. Hello is awesome in another way.

I don't usually buy albums unless I like at least 70% of the album... I'm so buying this. I am 100% in love with it.

1. Hello

The snapping accompanying the gentle guitar strumming is very classy, like those oldies where men dance in top hats and suits and canes. (Wait. That's tap-dancing. I think.) Like... some High School Musical songs, where Ryan dances classily like a gentleman? Yeah.

The English lines feels very forced and repetitive, especially near the end, a waste of Aron's flawless English. Pledis, please give him some proper English lines, even if it's not rap.

Ren's voice is good for this kind of song, I think. It's so different from all the other songs, yet it stands out, unlike in most other songs (except Face and Action) where you can't really pick out his voice.

I talked about the music video in my previous post, so not gonna do that here.

2. Hello Hello

Here I was saying how original Nu'est is because they sang "yeoboseyo" instead of the overrated "hello" in Hello... What's more, the "hello, hello" sounds really forced and unnecessary, unlike FT Island's Hello Hello (same. Goddamn. Name. Does the kpop industry even care about our playlists?). If you take out the hello's it'd sound so much better.

It's actually pretty funny, because now they have 4 "hello"s in their album. Wow.

The beginning of the song sounds a bit like Not Over You, but then after JR's first rap it's much different and I love it. (Except for the hello's)

JR's rap here sounds unbelievably y, especially the second rap section where he's aggressive but breathy at the same time!

"I want you shawty you're my boo." WHAT.

3. Introduce Me to Your Noona

A bouncy piano staccato begins the song and is consistent throughout the whole song, resulting in a happy, upbeat song. The overall feel to it, though, sounds more like a kids' song, like the Sesame Street songs I used to listen to when I was a kid.

Around 2:36, Minhyun (I think it's Minhyun) sounds hilarious in the middle of singing, like a roar. It made me laugh out loud on the train.

The chorus sounds like "I won a noona", which made me laugh again. Damn you Nu'est!

And when I checked out the English translation... the lyrics are pretty cute!

4. Just A Little Bit

This reminds me a bit of U-Kiss's Remember. It's slow, and ballad-y, but still have strong vocals in the chorus. It's my favourite song in the whole album.

Baekho's voice is so different from his usually powerful vocals- it melts into the song, like in Happy Birthday, but is still strong.

Is it just me, or does this seem tied to Happy Birthday? The lyrics seem... connected. Like this is the second part of the story.

I think Happy Birthday and this should really have a music video made because they are beautiful. And Happy Birthday is so underrated. They should hire me, I'd do it for free and I have loads of ideas lol not joking.

5. Beautiful Solo

The song starts with electric guitars jamming, and the whole song sounds rock-y, like CNBLUE. I love the beautiful guitar solo. (geddit?)

Aron should get more rap lines though, not just English rap. He has a rap section in Korean just after JR, and it sounds pretty good. They sound pretty good together. Aron and JR should have a rap song just for the two of them like GD&TOP's Knock Out, but different. Aron's rap is more rhythmic and JR's more aggressive and they compliment each other.

But when I checked out the English translations, I don't really like the lyrics. It's like they're telling us it's okay to play around with other people's feelings... but at the very end it seems like they regret it, so.

I desperately need the guitar tabs for Just A Little Bit and Hello.

And did anyone watch their comeback stage at Mnet? I DIED. And the crotch-slam thing done live is a million times funnier!
