Do it yourself

Ever since I started going to school, if I want to get something done, I do it on my own. I think I have stressed enough that I work best alone. Besides, I could never trust my peers to do a good job. Hehe. First child syndrome.

"Do it yourself" is my mantra, until now.

And so naturally, I am attracted to activities that involves me and myself. I remember watching Art Attack even though I am already a senior in uni, lol. I still remember the projects I would like to try. But that is just it. I never made anything, hehe.

When I got my first salary, I went straight to a boutique coz there is no craft store here and that boutique is the closest I can go to that sells arts and crafts materials. This Keeper spent around USD 100 on scrapbook paper, a puncher set, sticker maker, colored pens, etc. I have created fun paper crafts ever since.

Then a contest back in 2011 is giving away polymer clay chibis as prizes. Looking at the pictures of this chibis, the inner artist in me just knows I could it. A dozen polymer clay chibi tutorials and research on polymer clay, Keeper purchased her polymer clay sculpting set - 24 colored 1oz Sculpey clay bars, glaze, polymer clay glue, sculpting tools, xacto knife, etc - online. I spent around USD 50. But until know, my set remains untouched.

Recently, I got hooked into the world of crochet, and soon, knitting. I have purchased threads, yarns and hooks (IMIA brand, size 1, 3-4 double, 5 and 9). I just finished another project, the head hugger, which is like a huge ponytail or headband or both. Lol. You wear it like a headband but it gathers your hair at the back like a ponytail. You can see people with dreadlocks wear this. But I dont have dreads, hihi.

I have been collecting free patterns and pinning ideas. I am so excited with all the possibilities but then reality kicks in. A science city does not cater the arts. We only have school supplies stores here and the yarn are repacked into 35 metre little string balls.  Plus, they don't have a wide variety of colors to choose from. And the hooks I bought are for threads and not yarn. At least, the crochet threads have cute colors. But still!

So I went browsing for online shops and found some but then the prices would really burn a huge hole in my pocket. Being a student again has its downsides.

I planned on dyeing white yarn but then again, my extracurricular activities are supposed to be a secret from the family. Yeah. So, shhh...about my previous blog post. Only my unnies in the institute know, hoho.

I am pretty much frustrated right know, lol. And I can't bring myself to write. So I just searched for patterns and projects and tutorials and online classes...this past weekend until I stumbled upon DIY crafts blogs.

OTL

I am doomed. So many things to do, so little time. At least, the crafters use affordable materials.

An ahjumma in the lab told me that I am manifesting the first signs of being a spinster, old maid... Not that I mind. I am pretty much convinced that it might be the life for me. (She is one of those people who would love to tease others to the point that she doesn't realize that she is the only one having fun. Yeah, she is also in that birthday party.)

But my cg leader was so adamant that it is because I am in that stage or season when I want to experience new and different things. A couple more years and I would want a family like her. She adds that crocheting was her hobby during her college years, lol, and she now has a husband. Lol. True enough, the crafters or craft bloggers whose sites I bookmarked and projects pinned... Are all mothers.

OTL.

Must.not.think.about.it.

I am back again to where I started.

/goes off to de-frustrate myself, my hands are itching to do something and my mind is restless to even find sleep

May tomorrow be a better day for everyone!

It's Valentine's Week. Lots of bazaars. Sales. Chocolates. Hmmmmm... Aside from decorating my work bench with hearts lol, I plan to make origami roses or not so scary valentine's monsters lol

hihi, same here keeper, my painting sets weren't touched for more than a year now. I wanted to go back to painting but my work schedule won't let me and if I have the time, I would rather rest and make up for the lack of sleep. But my uncle, who's a full time painter, told me that I should still practice painting. His term was "Baka mangalawang kamay mo, sayang naman..." I don't know if that should scare me or what hehehe Have a nice day keeper! :)
