Past tense or present tense. It's not a matter of better. It's a matter of which. Usually when writing in third person view, I write in past tense. Because we are telling a story, the things happened alrdy. But if you're writing in first person view, it's usually in present. Because your character is telling the story right then and now. Everything is happening now. I hope that made sense
