style : Yu Lan is a very traditional and girly girl. She has a massive collection of traditional Chinese Hanfu and Qipaos to wear everyday, and does not get tired of it. Her style follows her everywhere, from home to the streets to even work. If she is not seen wearing hanfu or qipaos, that can only mean two things: one, she is super depressed and sad, or two, she ran out of them (which is probably never, or she is on vacation on another country and foolishly miscounted the time she will be there for). She will only wear dresses with lace, flowers, ruffles, and anything in that category if she does run out. Yu Lan learned to design and make clothing, too, seeing that hanfu and qipao isn't sold everywhere. The only time she wears anything else is when she is required to (On stage and interviews).

personality : Yu Lan is probably the most determined person in the whole wide world. If there is something she wants, she will work hard for it. Her dream was to be an influentual person, and now, she is working super hard to get there. Being a girl with tons of dreams and lifelong goals, it is hard to keep up with everything. Even so, Yu Lan will not give up and spends countless hours a day learning and practicing for those goals. 

Yu Lan has a lot of manners. Being raised from an extremely polite family, she would always thank a person that needs to be thanked, bow fully to a person older or more important than her, and say a bunch of sweet things and compliments. Even if someone is annoying and bothering her, she will keep on a smile until that person if gone. She is always willing to help another person and teach them whatever they need to work on. Yu Lan greets everyone she runs into and when she has to apologize, she doesn't hesitate to say sorry.

She isn't the typical polite girl either. Polite and mannerly girls are quiet and formal. This girl, however, can never stop talking. It seems like the only time she stops is when she sleeps. If there is an award given out to the most funniest and sociable person, Yu Lan will get at least a hundred. Always cracking jokes and blabbering about random things, you absolutely will not get bored. However, if she notices a person getting annoyed and tired of her talking, she will immediately stop and stay quiet for about five seconds.

Just like everyone else, a person with a bunch of good traits will always have a bad one (if you don't count being super super talkative as a bad trait). Yu Lan is sometimes overly confident about her so called 'talents'. If she expects herself to win and she actually loses, she will be gloomy the whole day and the day after. She would always think that she didn't try hard enough, and that's why she lost.

background : Yu Lan is born in Fuzhou, China, to two very polite and kind people. She is always expected to do her best in everything, and that is the reason to her determined personality now. Her dad is the ceo of a developing company, while her mom is a fashion designer. She had an older brother, too, but he died of a horrible and nasty plane crash while coming back to China from visiting Thailand. Though far from being poor, her family isn't the wealthiest people in the world either. Yu Lan actually got her love for traditional Chinese outfits from her mom. Being the only child left, her parents' main goal for her is to be a successful person. Being an idol doesn't really fit in their category as successful, so they both are against Yu Lan becoming a trainee in SM Entertainment. However, the two cannot stop her from secretly auditioning. 

Other than that, Yu Lan's parents are super nice and sweet to her. They are overly protective and cannot help but monitor her every move because they cannot bear lose another child. Feeling lonely back home in China, they are currently thinking of adopting an older brother for Yu Lan, only she doesn't know about it. Yu Lan keeps close contact with her parents while she is training in Korea. She calls them at least three times every week to check on their health.

family background : Like stated above in the background, Yu Lan and her family lives in a wealthy middle class neighborhood. Their house is a traditional styled building added with a modern touch. Her mother designed the layout of the house, because even though her mother is a fashion designer, she has skills in interior designing, too. The Wang family was raised to have manners, so if a person in that family is rude, s/he will be considered an outcast. Yu Lan's family has lived in tons of different places in both China and Taiwan thanks to her dad. From Fuzhou to Beijing to Hainan to Hong Kong, the family has been pretty active.

Even though the family moves around often, Yu Lan and her parents can never stop making friends. They had always been the special family in the neighborhood, treating everyone with respect and care. Their personality grew stronger and closer after they lost Chang Ming, because they had learned that losing a person is precious and to enjoy what you have. The family even has a motto. The sun will only shine on the person that truly deserves it.
