→ Personality ; 

When she first entered SM in 2006, she was very arrogant, strong-minded, straighforward and short-tempered young girl. She had that kind of personality, that many people tend to dislike. And she definedly had an bad attitude. She haven't never been a 'mean person' though. She has that kindness in her even though she rarely showed it then. She can just be happy nowadays that she didn't talk people that much back then. If she had done that, most of the SM family incuding trainees and staff would probably hate her. She was quite sure she was going to debut soon. She was very confident about her skills expecially her dancing skills. Luckily she soon noticed that there was no way she was going to debut with that attidude. And that made her change it.

After that, because of her long training, she has matured a lot. She has lost her rudeness along the years with her arrogance and has become much more patient. She has developed herself a much more mature and caring character. That still doesn't mean she would have the very good personality, not at all. She is caring, but she isn't someone you can complain about everything. She's used to enduring things, so she cannot stand people complaining. She's just more capable of taking a leading role and being polite to people. Her long trainee years paid of because at the present day she would be very good leader and she's capable of taking a lot of pressure. What would make her a good leader is her capability to motivate people to do their best, She also understands people very well and is a great speaker.

But her long training wasn't only good thing. She can be very unsecure nowadays and she criticises herself a lot. I easily feels like she's not good enough. That her brothers debuted before her is only one of the reasons she doesn't have that good self-confidence anymore. In the present day she's very fragile inside. Somewhere in her is a young, crared, fragile and innocent girl that she tries to hide so hard. She's that kind of person who never cries in front of other people. She does have her confident moments and she has become much more cheerful and happy after she joined TS. She also grudge towards SM but that's only natural. During her training in SM she got easily jealous of other girls because of the harsh competition, but after she joined TS she has lost that jealousy because TS has much less trainees and expecially girl trainees. She might be bit cold to SM trainees she doesn't know nowadays, but taht wouldn't last long.

Her character is very unique and also boyish in some way. She's a good speaker and isn't afraid to tell her thoughs just as they are. She is a very loud person when you get to know her, but nowadays she knows when to shut up too. She has a good sense of humor and she's also quite sarcastic. She has very high morals and with her attitude you can find her easily scolding people who trow trash around or behave badly in some other way.

She's one of those people who make friends very easily, and she also tends to befriends boys easier than girls. To her friends are really important source of strength. She's friendly with many people but has no one to really rely on and share her insecurities with. She has suprisingly many of them. She works really hard to show only her best to other people, expecially to her juniors. She wants to be a mother-like character to younger and also newer trainees.

To make it more simple: Somin is a very strong person with great sense of humor. She has attitude that many people might dislike, but she still makes friends easily. She's very caring towards people important to her. She's quite insecure and hides it the best she can. Her long years training have made her a much better person than she was and she's a great leader now.

→ Background ; 

She is the eldest child in the Jo family having two younger brothers, who are the well known being Jo twins of the boygroup Boyfriend. Her dad is director,

but not any very known one and her mother is a hair dresser, who owns her own salon.

Her childhood was fairly normal and she comes from a normal middle class family. She was four when Youngmin and Kwangmin were born. When new kids are born, the older ones usually get less attention than they used to, right? And then the older kids get super jealous and start doing crazy stuff. Well, that's just what happened in Jo family too. There's a lot job with taking care of twins so it's only natural for the little five-year-old Somin to get jealous. And well let's just say that it wasn't a good thing. Not at all. To say it simply, one morning little Somin picked all the stones from their garden and broke and broke all the living room windows. What a nice thing to wake up to. Luckily her parents understood what caused her behavior and didn't scold her too much. She gets very embarressed nowadays if her parents mention her reaction of having little brothers and she tries to avoid talking about it. Her brothers becoming child actors didn't exactly help her to get rid of her jealousy, but she was able to do so after she grew and started to understand thing better. She can be happy that she still became close with her brothers even though she thinks them as her rivals.

She has never done very well in school, good enought, but not very well. She has always had more interest in different things. Only thing she ever liked about school were language and music classes. You could say she has always been bit a rebel.

She moved to dorms in 2008 to focus better on her training. She hasn't really seen her family after that, but she has been buying them all the presents for birthdays and flowers for Parent's day and everything with her little money. She has made her brother promise not to tell anyone that their sister is a trainee until she debuts.
