BRING BACK THE FUN

While I was crocheting like a halmeoni, it dawned on me how I never enjoyed doing it in school. Crocheting is, after all, a pleasant activity for the hands. In fact, it is the same with writing. I didn't have fun in my advanced English class. And I always get frustrated with music, arts and physical education. The there are Literature and Filipino classes. I like reading. But I was limited with the choices my teachers required us to read. Eventually, it became another task I would like to get rid of. Oh, this next one came to me as a shock. History. Seriously, that is the most boring subject. Ever.

Why, everything in school seemed like a chore. They ruined the experience for me. I mean, writing, reading, making graphics and now crocheting has become daily activities for me - my hobbies. And my fave channel aside from Animax, AXN, Lifestyle, Discovery, Travel and Living: The History Channel.

Is it because of age that I appreciate these now?

In the future, I would like to try knitting again. And sewing. Painting is forever in my to-do list. I would love to have at least one masterpiece that I could hang.

We still have the wooden folding chair I built in industrial art class - the only success I have in the world of arts and crafts. I would have to sand and varnish it one of these days. The lab gown I sewn is still in my cabinet, but the buttons keep falling and both pockets are gaping lol.

I wonder how much more I have missed out. God is the main reason that I endured all those classes, and anime. No use in complaining about things I can't change. I have to go to school. So, why not make the experience...bearable? I always tell myself, "Deal with it."

If there is one gift I am sure God has given me, it would be the gift of learning. I can pretty much teach myself. And I love discovering new things. Perhaps that is why God placed me in research. And why I felt constrained within the four white washed walls of my classroom.

So from now on, this Keeper is going to live.
