Part 2: AFF Pet Peeves

Yay! I’m back with part two because I have so many things to say. I’m ruining my image as a nice girl right now. (I’M STILL WILLING TO DONATE TO THE RED CROSS, I DON’T BITE I PROMISE TT^TT). Now cue the bricking. /slapped/

1.       Misuse of Chinese. We all know oppa can refer to a bigger brother figure or your lover/spouse. Unfortunately, in Chinese “gege” can be used by both boys and girls and means “big brother” in a way that suggests a family or close friend relationship. You do not call your lovers “ge”. That’s like word . And yay I sound like a blonde .

2.Emoticons in the fic and title. Unless it’s for application fics or poster shops, since they are supposed to be more creative/artistic? But you use emoticons in your story and I hope you never eat a cookie ever again. And using these ~. May, I ask, why? WHY?!

3.The overuse of pictures in stories. It’s okay to provide some visual representation but not very single line of every single paragraph. One skill in writing is being descriptive. If you’re just going to use pictures to show everything, then I suggest you reflect on your own writing.

4.Useless Hangul in the title. I once translated a title just to see if it was actually relevant. Not going to pinpoint the fic name or anything but it was about arranged marriage and guess what the Hangul translated to? Lucky Hebrew. Look, I may be culturally ignorant and it was just lost in translation but “lucky Hebrews”? Someone Korean help me out please.

5.       Overuse of Korean in a story. We all know what oppa means but putting all these Korean words into a fic just messes with my brain. How was I supposed to know “Nappeun namja” was “bad boy”? Please be considerate to ALL your readers. People writing about Exo-M are guilty of this too, putting in random Chinese. Even though I am Chinese, I feel sorry for the non-Korean/Chinese population on AFF.

6.       I’m an Exotic. But what is with EXO dominating tumblr AND Asianfanfics? Are they really that wonderful and handsome? I’m sorry. I really don’t get it.

7.       This is more of a personal pet peeve but what’s with everyone pairing everyone with Yoona from SNSD. She’s gorgeous yes, but is she really girlfriend material for everyone and everything? I know this is a free country (website) but please, there are such underrated OTP’s with so much chemistry that aren’t written about at all. AGAIN. I don’t really mind but I don’t get it.

Due to my immense boredom and my mum being uber pissed at me, I’ve come up with part 2.

1: Lol yeah unless people are using "gege" to sajiao (撒娇) or something, saying gege to a love interest is a big fat no
2: ~ is called a tilde btw
5: tbh I think I'm guilty of that, but for anything that isn't obvious (like mama, baba, gege, jiejie, etc.), I will put in a mini glossary to explain
6: the exo fandom is like a combination of like kiddos from 1293812 fandoms, so I'm pretty sure that's why there are so many exo fics

When I was younger, I was really bad at Chinese and now I only know the most basic of basics of Mandarin but even I know "ge" or "gege" is actually for your brother, or at the very least, a platonic relationship (although, as someone commented below, that might be different now), unlike "oppa".
and yes I agree with your pet peeves

yes, yes, yes. I SO AGREE WITH NUMBER 10.
EVERY FRICKIN' SNSD FIC I READ
...there's always yoona
gawwwd. T^T
I also was looking at videos and a girl pointed out on YouTube that most Yoona fans are aggressive and get pissed if you don't point her out as pretty or as a goddess or whatever, which I have to agree. The world revolves around Yoona to them and whatever she does is perfect and whatever the other SNSD members do are ignored. Of course, not all of them, but the vast population of them do.

OMG! I didn't know you're also Chinese until I read this post!! Very true, many people use random Korean and Chinese phrases that make me LMAO Either they should do more research on the phrases or just don't use it xD
